Al Yankovic is known for his humorous songs that make light of popular culture and that parody specific songs by contemporary musical acts. Since receiving his first accordion lesson a day before his seventh birthday, he has sold more than 12 million albums and recorded more than 150 parody and original songs. His works have earned him three Grammy Awards amongst nine nominations, three gold records, and five platinum records in the U.S. Yankovic's first Top 10 Billboard album and single were both released in 2006, nearly three decades into his career. The Album was titled "STRAIGHT OUTTA LYNWOOD" and the son on the album was titled "White and Nerdy". In addition to recording his albums, Yankovic has written and starred in his own movie (UHF) and television show, directed music videos for himself and other artists including Ben Folds and Hanson, and has made guest appearances in television shows such as The Simpsons, Behind the Music, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, and RobotChicken.
"Eat it" is a Parody of Michael Jackson's "Beat It"
Michael Jackson has always stated that he is a fan of Weird Al's music and has never had a problem with him parading his songs.
"I'm Fat" is a Parody of Michael Jackson's "I'm Bad"
Weird Al was not only given permission to parody this song but was also given permission to shoot the music video on the exact same set that Michael Jackson did for his I'm Bad Video
"White and Nerdy" is a Parody of Rap Star Chamillionaire's "Ridin"
Chamillionaire was also very pleased, even putting Yankovic's parody "White & Nerdy" on his official MySpace page before it was on Yankovic's own page.
"Amish Paradise" is a Parody of Rap Star COOLIO's "Gangster Paradise"
This song was weird Al's most controversial parodies to date as Reportedly, Coolio's label gave Yankovic the impression that Coolio had granted permission to record the parody, but Coolio maintains that he never did. All has been worked out between the 2 artists
"Like A Surgeon" is a Parody of Madonna's "Like A Virgin"
The video for this song is hilarious as Al makes fun of the medical profession
"Another one rides the bus" Parody's Queens "Another One Bites The Dust"
On September 14, 1980, Al Yankovic was a guest on the Dr. Demento Show, where he was to record a new parody live. The song was called "Another One Rides the Bus", a parody of Queen's hit, "Another One Bites the Dust".
"You don't love me anymore" is a Parody of Extreme's "More Then Words"
It's simply hilarious how many ways Weird Al's 'Girlfriend' tries to injure him and he sings " Ive got a funny feeling you don't love me anymore"
"Smells Like Nirvana" is a Parody of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
Kurt Cobain, lead singer of Nirvana said that the band felt they had "made it" after Yankovic recorded his version of the song thus bringing more popularity to the band Nirvanna
"I Love Rocky Road" is a Parody of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts "I Love Rock N Roll"
This song managed to become a big hit on Top 40 radio In 1982
"Achy Breaky Song" is a Parody of Billy Ray Cyrus's "Achy Breaky Heart"
Billy Ray Cyrus became famous with this very song and is still popular to this day. Weird Al does a great job singing about how annoying this song can be
