Top 10 Worst American Idol Season 9 Performances

10 Worst American Idol performances

1. Tim Urban Apologize

It's normally a bad thing when you don't recognize a song you know because the singer has butchered it so much. I love One Republics Apologize. Tim Urban's high range sucks. He's clearly a baritone, so I have no idea what he was thinking with this song. Absolutely Horrible.

2. Janell Wheeler- What About Love

Janell Wheeler has a good voice, and that's all it is: good. Janell Wheeler is so completely mediocre and forgettable that none of her performances stand out other than her destruction of this Heart ballad. Her quivering voice is just not powerful enough for this song, and reminds me of a bad karaoke party.

3. Group- American Boy

American Boy was the group song for the Top 24. I wonder if these thoughts went through the producers minds. Producer 1 "We have a group of the most mediocre vocalists in American Idol history. I know. Let's get them to sing together." Producer 2: "But, what if the audience doesn't like the song. Producer 1: "We'll just pick one with American in the Title, that'll shut them up."

4. Paige Miles- Against All Odds

I believe Ms. Miles was doomed once Miley Cyrus appeared as her celebrity mentor. The opening was very pitchy and she remained pitchy throughout the song. She seems to be attempting to sing as if her voice is bigger, than it actually is. Ballads are not her friends.

5. Tim Urban- Sweet Love

Tim Urban's vocals were okay on this one, but he was giving the audience an unbelievably creepy stare in attempt to be sexy.

6. Haeley Vaughn, "I Want to Hold Your Hand"

Before I describe this performance, I want to state that I have no bias in favor of the Beatles. SHE DESTROYED THIS SONG! Vaughn is incredibly pitchy throughout the song, and adds runs in places that they do not belong. I am all for people making a song their own, but she failed miserably. Also, what on earth was she wearing? Gothic Lolita and Beatles, an American Idol does not make!

7. Andrew Garcia- Genie in a bottle

Unlike the other songs on this list, this song does not have bad vocals. Garcia gave a solid performance with some excellent guitar playing. It's on this list for how creepy it is. Unless you are Adam Lambert, covering a Christina Aguilera song is just not okay

8. John Park, "God Bless the Child"

Jazz standards do not really any American Idol Justice, but John Park just failed with this one. His voice butchered the Billie Holiday favorite.

9. Haeley Vaughn- The Climb

I'm not quite sure how Vaughn made it so far. This song made me wish I could hear Miley Cyrus' version, which is something I never dreamed I would want. Her lower register is weak, and her high voice is bad, so I'm not sure what to do with her. I've heard people at high school talent shows do better.

10. Under My thumb Tim Thumb

The Rolling Stones, and Reggae, a hit do not make. Enough said.

and have you forgotten didi's "broken-hearted" performance (usher week)? I was horrified.

what about casey james on sinatra week? That was the top five for heaven's sake - and it was a top 24 performance. i'd rather have a contestant improve rather than crash so badly as casey james did that night, and on top 3!!

Ha, I was wondering if The Climb would make your list. It was painful. :/
