Top 10 New Years Eve Party Songs

Second Chances, New Opportunities, Reflection. Songs to Move You as You Party.

An old year ending...a new year begins. A second chance...another turn. Despite all that has happened in the previous year we always have reason to celebrate. Music always seems to add to any celebration. Here are my personal picks for the top 10 New Years Eve party songs. I have found fun as well as inspiration in all of them.

Same Old Auld Lange Syne by Dan Fogelberg. This song was popular during my senior year in high school. It had been a very rough year for me with lots of personal and family problems. It reminded me of the innocence I felt I had lost. Even today when I hear this song it evokes melancholy memories. So, let's "drink a toast to innocence" and let go of the old regrets and sorrows and welcome the New Year.

Back in Black by AC/DC. After the melancholy memories you need a stand up and fight song to get your blood churning in anticipation of the second wind the New Year gives you. What better way to do this then with AC/DC's Back in Black. Let loose form the noose indeed. Everybody stand back and get out of the way because I am back! And ready for whatever the New Year brings.

I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack. A song about taking the opportunities that the New Year provides. We can't be afraid to take chances because life is about risk and those chances are worth taking just as the song says. I hope you dance every chance you get! Perfect New Years song.

I'm Still Standing by Elton John. I don't know about you, but there have been a few happenings this past year that buckled my knees. This song reminds that, yes I am, I am still standing "looking like a true survivor". If you are attending a New Years Eve party you are a survivor of the old year.

Life Ain't Always Beautiful by Gary Allan. Okay, so this song can be interpreted as a very sad song. But it can always be an inspiring song. At least I think so. Life can, indeed, be ugly at times but it is also an awesome, beautiful experience if you keep your eyes and heart open to it. Life ain't always beautiful...no it's not...but it is, yes, a beautiful ride. Let's all resolve to remember that through out the coming new year.

Everybody Have Fun Tonight by Wang Chung. Okay let's put aside all the sad, the bad, and the reflective melancholy thoughts and just have some fun. You can't hear this song without wanting to get up and have a little fun. "Across the nation, around the world
everybody have fun tonight. A celebration so spread the word!"

Take it to the Limit by The Eagles. Put me on a highway, show me a sign, and take it to the limit one more time. You have to give life all you got. You have to take it to the limit and then some. The New Year will show you plenty of opportunity to fall down for sure but with each fall you will also have an opportunity to get up and come back for more.

Roll with the Changes by REO Speedwagon. Tired of the same old story? Turn some pages and roll with the changes. One thing we all learn, some better then others, is that you have to roll with the changes because the one sure thing is that things will change. Last year, this year, next year, nothing ever stays the same. Roll with it and you will be a lot happier.

Broken Wings by Mr. Mister. 2009 is history, 2010 looms ahead. So, take your broken wings and learn to fly again. Put the failures and disappointments of the old year behide you and fly! What more is there to say?

Keep on Rolling with the Flow by Charlie Rich. This song is so old most of you reading this probably have never even heard of it. But, even so, I thing it makes a great New Years Eve song. These words say it all..."but somehow on and on I go, I keep on rolling with the flow".

Happy New Year to you all, I hope you dance!
