Top 12 American Idol Season 9 Finalist

Lilly Scott & Alex Lambert Left Out

Meucci Cameron
Tonight was the final wholesale elimination night on American Idol Season 9, as four more contestants have their dreams cut short. There was drama galore as the names were called and good-byes were said. Tonight as an especially weird elimination night as there are several marginal contestants.

Here are your American Idol Season 9 Top 12 contestants:
1. Didi Benami
2. Siobhan Magnus
3. Paige Miles
4. Crystal Bowersox
5. Lacey Brown
6. Katie Stevens
7. Tim Urban
8. Lee Dewyze
9. Casey James
10. Michael Lynche
11. Aaron Kelley
12. Andrew Garcia

Most notably missing from the AI Season 9 Top 12 is Lilly Scott. Her unique voice and arrangements had been weekly standouts along with Crystal Bowersox. Sadly her quirkiness did not help that karaoke Patsy Cline tune she brought to close the show on Tuesday. It was so boring and childlike I feared the worst for Lilly and was right.

Alex Lambert's elimination is the other slight surprise of the night. Or maybe its the fact that Tim Urban somehow stumbled into the Season 9 Top 12. Young Alex Lambert has a voice that has not been heard on past seasons of American Idol. Hopefully he'll get some experience and come back, but more likely he'll get snatched up by a record label. If Alex Lambert does hold out for next season on AI, I think he'll be easily in the Top 10.

The first to leave tonight's live show was Katelyn Epperly. This was only a minor shock after her lackluster performance on Tuesday. The most surprising part was that Paige Miles made it into the Top 12 after a dreadful performance Tuesday night. Katelyn Epperly was either overconfident or just did not care enough to put any emotion or thought into her final Idol song. It was not better tonight.

It was not a shock that Todrick Hall was cut second. Todrick made a good comeback last night with "Somebody to Love", much better than I expected. It was too little too late though. There was a reason Todrick Hall did not cry as he left the AI Season 9 stage, he's a successful dancer. He gave a good performance tonight to end his American Idol career.

Next week the American Idol Season 9 Top 12 face off individually against each other on the quest for the finals. Crystal Bowersox and Michael "Big Mike" Lynche are still the ones to beat. As we learned again tonight though, anything can happen on AI elimination night. If you have a favorite, never assume they are safe.

AI has gone to the tweens this year. Alex Lambert getting voted off?? Talent left, popularity in the tweens is all that remains. This adult will no longer be watching AI. In fact, even my 15 year old says she is done watching it, too.

I have to agree that Crystal Bowersox and Michael "Big Mike"
Lynche are still the ones to beat

Obviously the viewers of American Idol have no background , true interest or education in music. Otherwise, Lilly Scott who is amazingly talented would be on her way to the top instead of going home.
