Top 12 OnAmerican Idol 2010 Include Bowersox & Lynche; Going Home- Katelyn, Todrick, Alex, & Lilly; But Look Who's Staying!

Thursday March 11, 2010. 'American Idol tonight'. After a guys' night followed by a girls' night, America voted for their Top 12 on American Idol 2010. Rather than announcing all the girls and then all the guys whom America had voted into the Top 12, which is typical American Idol procedure, host Ryan Seacrest revealed the voting results in a girl-guy mix. The Top 12 are, in the order learning their fates, along with the songs that helped put them in the Top 12-

1. Didi Benami, 23, Los Angeles, Calif. Fleetwood Mac's 'Rhiannon'.
2. Siobhan Magnus, 20, Cape Cod, Mass. The Animals' 'House of the Rising Sun'.
3. Paige Miles, 24, Naples, Fla. Charlie Chaplin's 'Smile'.
4. Casey James, 27, Fort Worth, Texas. Keith Urban's 'You'll Think of Me'.
5. Tim Urban, 20, Duncanville, Texas. Leonard Cohen's song 'Hallelujah' à la Jeff Buckley.
6. Lee Dewyze, 23, Chicago, Ill. Owl City's 'Fireflies'.
7. Crystal Bowersox, 24, Elliston, Ohio. Tracy Chapman's 'Give Me One Reason'.
8. Michael 'Big Mike' Lynche, 26, St. Petersburg, Fla. Maxwell's 'This Woman's Work'.
9. Lacey Brown, 24, Amarillo, Texas. Brandi Carlile's 'The Story'.
10. Aaron Kelly, 16, Sonestone, Penn. Lonestar's 'I'm Already There'.
11. Andrew Garcia, 24, Moreno Valley, Calif. Christina Aguilera's 'Genie in a Bottle'.
12. Katie Stevens, 17, Middlebury, Conn. Kelly Clarkson's 'Breakaway'.

The ones leaving the singing competition are-

Katelyn Epperly, 19, of West Des Moines, Iowa.
Todrick Hall, 24, Arlington, Texas.
Alex Lambert, 19, North Richland Hills, Texas.
Lilly Scott, 20, Littleton, Colo.

The way it happened. Host Ryan Seacrest called up Didi Benami first and pronounced her 'safe'. Siobhan Magnus was next. Then, Paige Miles and Katelyn Epperly were called upon to stand up together. Of the two, Paige was pronounced 'safe' and Katelyn sang her swan song, Carole King's 'I Feel the Earth Move'. Lilly Scott looked very upset by the decision.

Ryan called on Casey James, Tim Urban, Lee Dewyze, and Todrick Hall. He told Casey and then Tim that they are safe. Of Lee and Todrick, Lee was pronounced safe. Todrick sang his swan song Queen's 'Somebody to Love' and was fantastic. He should be staying, Lee should be going. Crystal Bowersox looked unhappy about this decision.

At this stage, a vocal duet of Billy Joel's 'Tell Her About It' with dueling pianos was performed by two of last season's Top 10, Scott McIntyre and Matt Giraud. Scott has a new album out and Matt has a single out with Anna Wilson. The song is 'You Don't Know Me'.

Everyone's girl favorite Crystal Bowersox was the next one pronounced safe. Then everyone's favorite guy Michael 'Big Mike' Lynche was next to be proclaimed safe. Then Aaron Kelly, then Lacey Brown. Between Alex Lambert and Andrew Garcia, Andrew was safe and Alex was not.

Only two girls were left for the twelfth and final seat- Katie Stevens and Lilly Scott. Lilly was surprised to find that she was the one going home. Katie was tearful despite being safe for another week.
