Top 2 Ways to Make Money Over the Winter

The Trees Are Bare, but that Doesn't Mean Your Wallet Should Be

Especially if your main income comes from tips, the winter can really hurt your wallet. In this article, you will learn a few ways (some are harder than others) to turn the winter into a very lucrative season.

1. Make some fliers.

Include your name, email, and phone number. Make sure you promote your service, which is, in this case snow shoveling. Create a catchy header, such as "Got snow?" You can put these in your neighbors' mailboxes, but keep in mind that you should only accept clients you know you will be able to handle.

2. Network.

Call people you already know and ask them if they could use some snow shoveling services over the winter. Most people will not expect it will be free, but make sure you negotiate a price beforehand. Be sure to set up a system in advance, taking into account when shoveling their property would be most effective.

3. Get to Work

Once you have some clients, its time to get to work. Hire a friend or go it solo, and pack up your car with shovels. Map out the property in your head, including where you're going to shovel and where you're going to put the snow. Remember to primarily use your legs and arm, you don't want to throw out your back.

4. Utilize all the oppurtunities.

If shoveling is not something you're interested in, have no fear. The internet offers a lot of money to be made, and like shoveling, you work on your own time. Websites such as eHow.com and Associated Content pay for writing, which is perfect to do inside during the sometimes bleak winter months.

5. As with any entrepreneurial endeavor, it is what you make it. Decide how much extra money you'd like to make, and get to it. In a snowstorm, there's no shortage of snow, and the internet never runs out of writing opportunities. Good luck!

Be careful not to throw out your back, and remember to check the websites you write for, so as to avoid an internet scam. Happy moneymaking!
