Over the last three years of my experiences in quilting, I have gone to the Internet many, many times for information, motivation, and inspiration. Upon discovering some real great sources for quilting info, personal blogs entered the picture.
Let me just start this article by stating that I have only just begun my discovery of great quilting blogs, however, time and time again these three blogs are the ones I find myself gravitating too as many times a day as possible looking and hoping for new content on their sites. I can't say I recall exactly how I came across each one of these individual sites so I thought I would share them with the quilt lovers out there and perhaps save you some time searching for the kind of fulfillment these blogs offer. There are others I refer to as often as these blogs but as with a lot of quilters/bloggers, our passion for the art wanes from time to time but these three ladies always seem to take the time to pursue their goals in quilting and lead truly fulfilling lives.
All of these ladies are super talented, super involved with quilting and super individuals overall. They inspire me, they take me down memory lane, they motivate me, and they impress me each of them for their ability to balance life with their passion for quilting.
On their blogs they not only share about quilting but life, family, love and just about everything else you can imagine. Let me also just mention that in addition to their busy lives, their blogs are personal in nature and they, like anyone else has the right to publish what they like on these sites, so having said that, the blogs are always in good nature, they are upbeat and they are positive sources for information. If you plan to visit either site and think you will get away with any nastiness in any way, you are sadly mistaken. These ladies provide their information as a choice and for those like me, a blessing. Let's all appreciate that and keep our negative opinions to ourselves. I promote that idealism for any site you visit. If you wish to be nasty, start your own blog. In no particular order, here are my top three recommended quilting blogs:
http://www.patchworktimes.com/ This blog belongs to Judy Laquidara. Judy is a tremendously busy lady who not only loves to quilt but cook as well. She shares everything from quilting to chicken coops on her blog. There are great quilting tips, cooking tips, business tips, charity donation information and a link to her Website. Judy does trunk shows and lectures and runs a long arm quilting business. She is also a published author. Her book Nine Patch Extravaganza is available on her Website, Sunshine Quilts (http://www.sunshinequilts.com/). I look forward each day to seeing what things Judy and her family are up to. She has a great sense of humor and a way of telling/writing a story and I often chuckle when reading her content. Funny and quilty! Who could ask for more?
http://quiltville.blogspot.com/ Quiltville's Quips and Snips belongs to Bonnie K. Hunter. This lady is known the world over for her quilting. Bonnie also does tons of trunk shows and lectures in addition to doing long arm quilting. Bonnie has also written a book Scraps & Shirttails. It's available on her Website, Quiltville.com (http://quiltville.com/). This blog shares lots of information on quilting and Bonnie truly shows her passion for the art in every quilt she does. The blog is an amazing source of information, and loads of info on her travels and experiences traveling the world doing what she absolutely loves to do in life, quilt. That's one lucky woman there. A great read time and time over.
http://blackberrycreek.typepad.com/blackberry_creek/ What can be said about Susan? Susan Ramey Cleveland is just one of the sweetest people I have never met in my entire life. I only read her blog but she just expels sweetness in everything she does. She may be my greatest source of inspiration as she is closest to the "down-home" impression in my memories of Mom and Gran doing the quilting all those years ago. Susan is involved in everything under the sun to do with quilting. She's also an avid reader; she crochets and makes all sorts of other art projects that she shares as well as her love for quilting. She's a family lady with a strong faith in God that also draws me to her site. If you think retirement means slowing down and sitting around, you haven't learned about Susan yet!!!
For a list of other great quilting blogs check out my blog, My Quilted World (http://myquiltedworld.blogspot.com/) and visit the links listed under My Blog List. If you cannot find inspiration or an answer to what you need from this list, the information is not out there.
