Roy A. Barnes
My top 3 American Music Award Winners for Favorite Pop Rock Male Artist in music history combined, won in six consecutive years from 1977-1982. These top 3 American Music Award Winners for Favorite Pop Rock Male Artist in music history include a man who was very popular not only as a pop rock singer, but as a country performer. My top 3 American Music Award Winners for Favorite Pop Rock Male Artist in music history are listed in order of their wins. What performing icons these men are!

Top 3 American Music Award Winners for Favorite Pop Rock Male Artist in Music History Selection Number 1: Elton John (Won in 1977).

The most vivid image of I have of something related to Elton John came from an episode of One Day at a Time, where Barbara and Julie Cooper performed as Elton John and Kiki Dee, imitating their iconic and beautifully- and quickly-paced duet Don't Go Breaking My Heart, one of the chart rulers of 1976. Elton John was one of the most flamboyant performers, especially when he wore those big glasses and large boots as well as that glittery attire. Another one of his awesome and uplifting tunes was one that he performed about a city, that song being 1975's Philadelphia Freedom, which is one of my top 10 classic rock and pop songs about cities, which you can read at this Associated Content article.

Top 3 American Music Award Winners for Favorite Pop Rock Male Artist in Music History Selection Number 2: Barry Manilow (Won 1978-1980).

For some reason, the powers-that-be that picked the musical selections for our 5th and 6th grade singing performances to parents and other interested parties had a thing for Barry Manilow, even though most of us guys didn't like it. I recall having to sing Manilow's hits like Daybreak and Mandy for those programs. Mandy happens to be one of my top 10 classic rock and pop songs with girl names, which you can read about my Associated Content article.

Yet for me, the more sensitive type (even though my lack of singing ability didn't do anything for music history), I grew to enjoy hearing much of his music even though my male schoolmates were more biased towards harder rock. There's a pleasant showiness to the way he croons. During the time of his being the American Music Award Winners for Favorite Pop Rock Male Artist, some of his best music came out on the radio like the great dancing 1978 tune Copacabana (At The Copa),the nicely-flowing and chart-topping Looks Like We Made It (1977), and the heart warming Number 1 Adult Contemporary hits from 1978 Even Now and Can't Smile Without You .

Top 3 American Music Award Winners for Favorite Pop Rock Male Artist in Music History Selection Number 3: Kenny Rogers (Won 1981-1982).

My house currently has the Sirius commercial free music channels, and one of my favorites is called Escape, which plays "beautiful music"; that is, Adult Contemporary hits by performers like Kenny Rogers and Barry Manilow or covers of such hits that are done really lightly and symphonically. Listening to Kenny Rogers on the Escape channel reminds me of just how popular this singer was back around the time he was the American Music Award Winners for Favorite Pop Rock Male Artist two years in a row, singing such emotionally-tugging Number 1 hits like Lady (1980) and Through The Years (1982). I've never been a big fan of his less heart-stirring tunes such as Lucille or Coward of the County. I like it when Rogers gets really serious!
