Doc Ford's Sanibel Rum Bar and Grille, Sanibel Island, Florida

Doc Ford's is s friendly laid back place located on Sanibel Island right off Sanibel Captiva Road. The large bar sports twenty-seven televisions as well as some quieter areas for easier conversation. The menu leans toward seafood with great appetizers and a raw bar. The fried shrimp and banana leaf snapper are excellent choices. Doc Ford's serves great mojitos and has a nice selection of beers and rums. The atmosphere is casual and friendly although it can get a little loud and crowded particularly later at night and on Friday and Saturday nights. There is also outside dining which can be a wonderful experience at the right time of year.

Benchwarmers Sports Bar and Grill in Fort Myers, Florida

For a more traditional sports bar, Benchwarmers is a great choice. They have 36 flat-screen televisions including one at each booth. Although the owners and decor favor the Pittsburgh Steels and Ohio State Buckeyes, you can usually find a good selection of games or events to watch. There are pool tables and a game room. The food is excellent and includes some great appetizers like bases loaded fries and bench bread. They make a great steak dinner and the pizza is excellent. The portions are generous and the prices reasonable. They have Texas Hold'em poker on Friday and Sunday nights.

The Sandy Parrot Tiki Bar and Grill, Fort Myers, Florida

The Sandy Parrot is located right on the main highway through Fort Myers making it an easy find for tourists. The bar sports live music six nights a week and a large dance floor. The food is great including a build your own burger option with great flavor and quality ingredients. They also have some great seafood and appetizers including crabmeat tiki rolls that are fantastic. They have great mojitos and margaritas and have a decent rum and beer selection. This is a little bit more of a party bar and many nights it caters to a younger crowd that likes to dance.

    I used to spend all my time down on the beach_ forget the names- a pink place across from the Witches Brew right over the bridge? & the nature trail up by the Publix ....Anyway good times in Ft Myers ..Oh yeah! and the Big Buddha on McGreagor Blvd!!
