Hollywood Billiards

5750 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA; Tel. 323.465.0115

In December of 2009, just before the New Year, I had the opportunity to meet up with old friends from high school. Since we all live in Los Angeles and were local, we decided to pick a hip, dimly lit, swanky hangout. Most of my friends are not into the teeny-booper scene that's about silly college students, causing ruckus at bars. After browsing and scoping out places for a few days, I came across Hollywood Billiards. When you first walk in, you're greeted by the dark walls, old fashion pool tables, the old fashion bar set-up and the low hanging lights. It's a bit spooky and reminds you of an old mobster hangout. The place is usually occupied by film crews that inhibit and film on the second floor. The upper deck has a scene-scape of the entire Hollywood Hills, The Hollywood sign, and it's lush greenery. The drinks are also great. You can choose from light drinks such as 16-year-old scotch on the rocks to a simple house draft beer. It's also known for its panoramic televisions, and hosting of sports events. You can't go wrong with playing pool either because even if you come alone, you'll always have someone to join you. Least I add, this place is perfect for those quant quiet evenings to even meet business associates.

Seven Grand

555 W. 7th. St., Los Angeles, CA; Tel. 213.614.0737

In the heart of Los Angeles, by the Downtown Bank District. If you're looking for an elegant, swanky place to hang out, after work to or host a business meeting, this is your spot. You'll have peace and quiet and you will not be disturbed by any immaturity of the young and silly crowds. If you like to a peace of mind with your drink, then the Seven Grand is the spot for you. It's classy, jazzy and chill. If you're not into the hyper club scene, filled with chaos, and you prefer class, then this would be the spot. If you're a jazz aficionado, then you should stop by Monday through Wednesdays to have a listen to the finest selection of jazz music, sometimes live. They are also known for their peach martini's and midori sours. The ideal spot to take your friends after a long day at the office and still maintain your class and respect.

Backstage Café

9433 Brighton Way, Beverly Hills, California; Tel. 310.777.0252

Have you ever heard of the saying, 'after the party, is the after-party'??? Well... this place would definitely be where 'the party, after the after-party would be held' if there was an after-party after a party - nice right? The Backstage Café is definitely a hot spot for the younger lively crowd. It's called the Backstage Café for a reason, which is very fitting, considering it's reputation, and what makes this spot even better is that it's in Beverly Hills. The perfect spot for class, culture, style, good times, and nostalgia. It's known as a secret celebrity hangout, for jam sessions that range from hip-hopsters to rockstars and is bedecked with red walls; that are covered with gold, platinum records from artists as its décor. It's a place where the party never ends, but can only get better, and is equipped with some of the most amazing DJ's to keep the party spinning. The drinks are out of this world.
