Top 3 Bars in the Los Angeles Area

S. E. Masters
Practically everywhere you go in LA there is traffic, traffic, and more traffic. Below are three fantastic bars that will help take the hustle and bustle off your mind. All are close to heavy tourist areas or LAX, so if you don't feel like driving, take a cab.

3) Boardner's

This is the classic bar. Fun and frolic is part of this bar's history. As soon as you walk in there's a sense of style and class that has captured patrons since 1942. Top shelf spirits are available. Just ask. A few steps from the "Hollywood Walk of Fame", it's a hangout for the "Who's Who and Who Cares" and now, you.

By day, it's a quiet peaceful side street hideout. Conveniently connected to The B52 Club, after twilight it's a loud and energetic atmosphere with a typical LA mix of diversity. The high backed leather booths, a fantastic menu, and restaurant style service provide a pleasant experience. You will return when you're in the area again.

2) The Den

When it comes to neighborhood bars, this is the spot. Though it's on super busy Hawthorne Blvd., you forget there's a big city outside because you're made to feel comfy right away. Pool tables, a jamming jukebox, great food, and of course, good spirits and beers - expect to become a regular patron.

The bartender and a fantastic cook, that prepares multiple shrimp dishes will energize your mojo while you conquer all comers at one of several pool tables. Just southeast of LAX, nearby aerospace employees frequent the joint after a hard days work.

The Den
11437 Hawthorne Blvd.
Hawthorne, California
(1 block south of Imperial Hwy near the 105 Freeway)

1) Chez Jay

If you're cruising south on PCH in your rag top looking to kick back to an amazing meal and great cocktails keep driving past the famous California Incline to the end at Ocean Blvd. The best dive bar in town awaits you at Chez Jay (pronounced shay-jay). Forget that it's the dive for celebrities, since it's the first place you see coming off of PCH from Malibu.

The sawdust on the floor is just a way of fooling you. This one of the premiere steak and seafood houses in all of LA - that's big. You can expect superb service, great cocktails, a nice wine list, and famous peanuts. They'll tell you about the peanuts when you get there.

Chez Jay
1657 Ocean Ave.
Santa Monica, California
