Long Beach. A quaint beach, Long Beach is one of Long Island's nicest shorelines and perfect for seniors. It's quieter than other beaches and more relaxed, has clean facilities and is near to several parks. There's a free summer concert series, a fine art show, and Magnolia Senior Center is nearby with educational and cultural programs available in more than 50 subjects.
Coney Island Beach. Just for the nostalgia alone, Coney Island Beach is wonderful for seniors. You can relax on the beach then head to the boardwalk to eat one of Nathan's Famous original hot dogs. The Coney Island Polar Bear Club swim here in the winter months and many of them are seniors. There are museums, gift shops and restaurants for those who aren't all-day beach goers. There's even a Burlesque at the Beach for those seniors with a little naughty side.
Montauk. Montauk beaches are at the south tip of Long Island and are lovely. Montauk is famous for the Montauk Point Lighthouse, where you can climb the more than 130 steps and see an amazing view out over the ocean. If you don't want to laze all day on a beach, fishing trips are also available. If you like beaches but don't like lying around much, seal watching walks and bird watching are also popular here.
These are just some of the many New York beaches perfect for seniors. Most of them easily accessible by train or ferry.

Post a CommentAh, yeah, MONTAUK!!!!!!!!!!! Before they moved to Florida in 1998, my grandparents and my Uncle Ed used to take their yearly trip there every September. They mainly went for the fishing which is great! Nice, uncrowded beaches as well!
Great read. thanks
