1. The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliff
This is a classic book that tells the tale of Emily left orphaned and to the care of her aunt. Her aunt marries a man who has an ugly personality and his life is clouded with deep dark secrets. The book is a mystery with two haunted, romance, and treachery. The best part about this story is it has a happy ending.
Emily should be played by Kate Winslet. Her lover played by Antonio Banderas. Anthony Hopkins starring with Kathy Bates as the Aunt and step Uncle with Steven Spielberg as the director would be the perfect cast and director to turn this thriller into a movie. My guess is that it would be a hugely popular movie.
2. The Virginian by Owen Wister
Considered to be one of the greatest Westerns of all times, the Virginian is both a love story and a comedy. Amazingly it has not been a recent really good version of this book made into a movie. The closest its come is a television movie with Bill Pullman made in 2000.
Clint Eastwood with his experience as an actor in old westerns and director should direct the movie, with Naomi Judd as Miss Shannon Woods and Harry Connick Jr. as the Virginian.
Because we always need more children's movies and basing them on books is the perfect way to get a child interested in reading the book the movie is based from.
3. Because a Little Bug Went Ka-choo! By Rosetta Stone illustrated by Michael Frith
The movie based on the book Horton Hears a Who by Dr. Suess was excellently written into a move by the screenplay writers Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul. Therefore, the engaging and fun book Because a Little Bug Went Ka-Choo by Rosetta Stone, one of Dr. Suess's pseudo names, could be turned into another hit movie by with the same writers and directors Jimmy Hayward and Steve Martino. The main character, the bug, who began the plot could be played by Chris Rock as a strong and funny character.
With the millions of books that could possibly be made into a movie, these are the top three on my list that I would love to see.
