Top 3 Burger Joints in Akron, Ohio

If you read just about any of my articles, you'll see that I rave about Akron restaurants and Akron food. The truth is that we have a great selection of culture and taste when it comes to our dining. We've got a huge variety of local restaurants, offering excellent cuisine from all over the globe. It doesn't get much more American than burgers however, and our city has got that covered as well. Here's my take on the best 3 burger joints in Akron.

1. Swenson's: Not only is it an Akron tradition, Swenson's drive in restaurants serve what is undoubtedly my favorite burger ever: The galley boy. A slightly sweetened patty on a perfect bun, with a secret sauce that only Swenson's carries, the galley boy is the culmination of the perfect burger. From what I hear, the standard double cheeseburgers are also to die for, and I've even sampled the vegetarian "Salad Boy," and was pretty impressed. Don't forget to order a shake! 2. The Ido Bar and Grill: Firestone Park's cozy little neighborhood bar boasts 7 different "famous" burgers-including of course the "IDO Burger," smothered in grilled onions, mushrooms, and topped with American cheese. They also list 3 burgers as specialty sandwiches-including the delicious "Ranch Burger" (I'm in total awe of anyone that puts onion rings on a hamburger). These delicious burgers can only be explained by real home-cooked flavor and local love. Visit: http://www.idobar.com

3. Louie's Bar and Grill: You may not have heard of Louie's, but you should certainly check it out! Located on Glenwood Avenue, this elusive burger joint came out at the forefront of a competition lead by the Akron Beacon Journal as the best burger in 5 counties. The numbers tell it all, but you have to taste it to believe it. There are 11 different burgers on Louie's menu, including not only their award winning "Louie Burger," but specialty burgers such as the St. Louie's Bleu Burger (delicious) and the Ranchero Burger (again with the onion rings). So stop by and visit one of these great establishments, and help support your local restaurants-they obviously have wonderful food to offer. Happy dining, Akronites!
