This list contains top picks for a cheap take-out burger, a reasonably priced sit down burger meal at a restaurant, and also an Asian/vegan twist to the usual burger shack for the foodie's out there.
Mcdonalds @ Edgewater Commons Shopping Centre, 549, River Road
Location: This Mc Donald's is the ideal place if you need a quick meal on the go, as this fast food restaurant is within walking to the big discount stores like Marshalls, Payless shoe stores and TJ Max, Target, Pathmark, Bed Bath and even Party City at the Edgewater Commons Mall.
Menu: It has the typical McDonalds burger menu and the service is quite fast. The best thing on the menu is the Angus burger with Swiss cheese and Mushroom.
Ambience: The restaurant is clean and the staff is efficient. The drive-through is a blessing if you are hungry and in a rush. Another plus for this restaurant is that it is open 24/7.
Tip: If you go for the drive-through, make sure that all that you ordered is inside your take-out bag, as the staff often forget to include the toys for the kid's meals, fries or straws for your drinks.
Outback Steakhouse@ Edgewater Commons Mall, 539, River Road.
If you have more time on your hands and are looking for healthy fast food, the Outback Steak house is a good place to stop.
Location and Ambience: This Outback is also conveniently located inside the Edgewater Commons and within walking distance to the great discount stores in this area. The food in the restaurant is delicious, the portions are more than satisfying and the staff is courteous and friendly. If you have some time on your hands, it is the ideal place to eat with your family as this restaurant offers a wider selection than the previous McDonalds with great salads, pasta and Zagat rated steaks, plus the eye catching décor will give toddlers and small kids something to look at as they wait for their food.
Menu: The selection of burgers is great and reasonably priced. Items on the menu include Bacon Cheese Burger, The Bloomin Burger (with onion, American cheese, lettuce and tomato and a great onion sauce) and the Outbacker Burger (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, cheese and mustard). If you want a healthier choice you can opt for a grilled chicken and Swiss sandwich or a roasted Focaccia sandwich which is truly mouth watering and healthy.
Tip. The price and food here make it one of the best restaurants in Edgewater so lines can be 10 to 15 minutes long, but you will not regret the wait.

The Baumgart's at the City Place Mall in Edgewater
Though this café is not your traditional burger joint, I have chosen to include it, because it offers an extremely wide selection of food apart from their signature deluxe hamburger and grilled cheeseburger.
Location: This restaurant is inside the City Place Mall in Edgewater and within walking distance from great stores like Gap and Banana Republic, Loft, Victoria Secrets, Express, Carters, Aerosoles and a choice selection of other up market boutiques and shoe stores. It is also close to the Edgewater cinema complex which makes it the ideal spot for a quick dinner after a good movie.
Ambience: What I truly love about this place is that it is overlooking the river and the view is great, especially at night. If you are dining inside you will enjoy the 50's soda fountain theme. If you are dining al fresco, the atmosphere relaxing and warm. Whenever I have dined here I found the staff efficient and polite and I would definitely recommend it.
Menu: The biggest plus of this restaurant is that it will satisfy even the pickiest eaters with it's multinational menu of Asian foods like sushi and sesame chicken, mouthwatering wraps, salads, pasta and great burgers. The portions are big and satisfying and the food is good. Vegans will be spoilt for choice here. It is a great spot if you are looking for a place to eat when dining out with a group of friends because of the diversity of the menu and their deserts are miniature works of art.
This restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and Sunday breakfast. A direct link to Baumgarts can be found here.

Post a CommentI just love Manhattan Joyce, there's so much energy! It was one of the reasons we moved to the US :)
I actually enjoy McDonald's Cheeseburgers every once in awhile. I used to travel to Manhattan quite often for work. I still remember the first time I drove across the GWB into Manhattan. I was absolutely terrified! You are lucky to live so close to NYC Sonya!
All but Mcdonalds sounds good to me.
Actually Edgewater is just off the GWB so that steak house is a good stop if you are travelling in an out of NY!
I"m a fan of Outback Steakhouse. Good to know for those visiting Edgewater, New Jersey or nearby areas.
