Top 3 Burger Joints in Fort Myers, Florida

Lee Wright
The warm sandy beaches of southwest Florida are a big tourist attraction. People who come to escape the nasty weather at home are also looking for some good food during their vacation. Some of the best places in Fort Myers are not the most expensive restaurants. For vacationers who want a good old-fashioned juicy hamburger some of the smaller no-frills restaurants have the best burgers.

Houlihan's, Cape Coral, Florida

Houlihan's is across the bridge from Fort Myers in Cape Coral, but it's an easy drive and right off of a main street. They have excellent food at reasonable prices that include some of the best burgers around. They start with homemade focaccia rolls and 100% Angus beef. The burgers are expertly grilled to order and are topped with lettuce, red onion, and tomato if desired. You can choose to add tillamook cheddar, Gouda, provolone, Swiss, gorgonzola, or bleu cheese for just an extra ten cents or cheese and bacon for just twenty cents. Burgers and sandwiches come with a choice of several sides including some really great home-style French fries. In addition to great burgers, they serve many other sandwich and seafood options. They also have a great dinner menu.

The Beached Whale Restaurant and Bar - Ft. Myers Beach, Florida

The Beached Whale is mainly a seafood and barbecue place that sits right on the beach. Although their specials run to grouper and shrimp they also make an excellent burger. The half-pound Angus beef burgers are served grilled to order on a fresh toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, and onion. Cheese and/or bacon can be added for a little extra. This is a great place to dine on seafood appetizers and then split a couple of entrees like their Beached Whale Burger. They have a nice outdoor dining area that can be beautiful with spectacular views during the right time of evening.
