Top 3 Central PA Microbreweries
Old Forge Brewing Company, Selinsgrove Brewing Co, Ottos Pub and Brewery
Selinsgrove Brewing Co 121 North Market Street, Selinsgrove, PA
Hours: Open at 11:30 am Wednesday to Sunday. They close at 11 pm Wednesday and Thursday; 12 am Friday and Saturday; and Sunday at 8 pm.
Selinsgrove Brewing Co is located in downtown Selinsgrove in a historic stone governor's mansion built in 1816. The atmosphere has a down-home, comfortable feel just a ½ mile from Susquehanna University.
Sample 12 different ales and lagers at Selinsgrove Brewing Co. They offer a variety of fresh microbrews all year like White Horse Porter & Shade Mountain Oatmeal Stout and seasonal brews like the yummalicious Wilder's Hefe Weizen (a wonderful replica of German beer).
On the menu at Selinsgrove Brewing Co are Boars Head meats, vegetarian selections, appetizers, salads, locally created desserts (from Emma's), a kids menu an more. They also offers fresh made Root Beer made with raw organic can sugar and unsulfured molasses.
Otto's Pub and Brewery 105 North Atherton Street,State College, PA
Kitchen Hours: Monday to Saturday 11 am to 10 pm and Sunday 11 am to 9 pm.
Otto's Pub and Brewery is a beautiful restaurant and microbrewery. You will not grow claustrophobic in the large restaurant area that has huge windows with spectacular Pennsylvania views. They also offer outdoor seating.
Try an ale, cask-conditioned ale, and lager that are available year round or one of their seasonal varieties. I am a wheat beer lover so I recommend Otto's Apricot Wheat. You can find Otto's brews at popular restaurants in the central PA area such as Red Lobster, Tony's Big Easy and Wegman's grocery store.
Otto's Pub and Brewery offers a large selection of foods including appetizers, salads, soups, wraps, burgers, sandwiches and entrees.
Old Forge Brewing Company 282 Mill Street, Danville, PA
Hours: Tuesday through Thursday 11 am to 10 pm, Friday and Saturday 11 am to 12 am.
The Old Forge Brewing Company is a hip bar with the freshest brew in Danville, PA. Their homemade beer is brewed at the restaurant on Mondays. There is a bar and wooden booths upstairs and downstairs. The brewery is a hip, clean and fun joint. Their prices are reasonable and they offer free Wi-Fi, outdoor dining and live entertainment. Visit their webpage to find out who will be playing at Old Forge Brewing Co.
You will find many fresh brews on tap that change with the season. Old Forge always has at least five different microbrews to choose from. Try samples of each new brew at the Old Forge. I recommend fresh brews like the dark Slack Tub Stout and light Celestial Blonde.
Menu options include appetizers, salads, soups, cold and hot sandwiches. Try the Spinach Tomato Dip appetizer and Chicken Satay Wrap. Also on the menu at the Old Forge Brewery is a huge 1/2 pound burger called The Purist.
