Top 3 Comic Book Movies
"Faster Than a Speeding Bullet, More Powerful Than a Locomotive, Able to Leap Tall Buildings in a Single Bound."
I decided that the comic book movies that made the list would have to meet a certain criteria. First, did the movie follow the comic book as closely as possible? Two, did the actors and actresses in the movie bring the characters to life on the big screen? And last, did I enjoy the movie? Here are my picks for top 3 comic book movies:
#3- V for Vendetta
Quality Comics published the first episodes of V for Vendetta in the British anthology comic, Warriors, between 1982 and 1985. The first V comics written by Alan Moore and illustrated by David Lloyd were published in black and white. In 1988, DC Comics published V for Vendetta in color. In 2006 V for Vendetta was made into a movie. The lead character "V" is a revolutionary wearing a Guy Fawkes masks looks to bring down the totalitarian society the UK has become. "Remember, remember the 5th of November. The gunpowder, treason, and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot."- V played by Hugo Weaving. Other cast members include Natalie Portman as Evey Hammond and Stephen Fry as Gordon Deitrich.
#2- X-Men
The X-Men are a team of superheros created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. Marvel Comics published the first X-Men comics in the 1960's and the stories lines have continued into comics today. In 2000, fans of X-Men got to see their favorite characters come to the big screen. HalleBerry played Storm, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier and Ian McKellen as Magneto are just a few of the all star cast members playing X-Men characters. Although, the film does not follow the comics perfectly, it makes the list because you can watch any of the X-Men trilogy and not be bored.
And #1 goes to a classic comic book movie- SUPERMAN!
Superman was published by DC Comics and was the first superhero to begin in one comic then have his own comics. Originally, Superman appeared in Action Comics #1 in June 1938. Writer Jerry Seigel and artist Joe Shuster are the creators of the cultural icon. During the 1940s and 1950s, Superman became a well known cartoon and the first feature film was released in 1978. Opening on December 15, 1978 it grossed over $300 million dollars worldwide. Christopher Reeves, in my opinion, played the best Superman. Superman makes my list because it is always watchable, the movie followed the comic book and you can ask a person of any age who Superman is and they will be able to tell you. Superman is a movie that crosses generations and never gets old.

Post a CommentI loved the Superman movie and remember seeing it with my sons. Sure bought back memories reading this one. So sad :( to think that Christopher Reeve is gone.
Great choices!
My 7yo has been a superman fan since he was 2. Excellent movie and comic book list!
Great list; of course, I'm hoping that the three Tintin films will be the best films derived from comic books ever, so more people in the US will know who he is.
I like all three but I would have loved Spiderman too.
