3. Weight Loss- The Season 5 premier showed us something new in the world of the Office, summer. This episode follows the employees of Dunder Mifflin throughout June, July and August, showing Michael Scott's enthusiasm for the company-wide weight loss competition. The episode also follows Pam, who is in New York studying graphic design at Pratt University. While this episode features some priceless Jim-Pam moments (some extremely funny and some tear-jerkers) the best moments come from Michael and Holly, the new human resources representative. Holly, played by Amy Ryan, was featured on the season 4 finale and gets even more screen time in Weight Loss to flex her funny bone. Most of the jokes come from Holly's sense of humor, which is eerily close to Michael's (they both beatbox and do Yoda impressions). Also featuring some good Stanley moments, who is losing weight for himself and yes, Ryan is back at the Scranton branch... as the temp.
2. Crime Aid- The fourth episode of season 5 is number two on my list. This episode mainly follows Michael and Holly, who are about to go on their third date. Michael is nervous because he hears sex happens on the third date. He is thrilled to find out Holly agrees and tonight is the night. The two are awkward around each other for the rest of the day but Holly tricks the camera crew to wait outside the office, meanwhile Holly and Michael have sex in the stairwell. The only thing they forgot, was to lock the office. When the employees return in the morning all of their stuff is gone, the office has been robbed. Michael and Holly realize it is their fault and decide to hold an auction to raise the money needed to buy back the stolen property. Crime Aid (of course Michael named the auction) is held in the warehouse and various services are auctioned off by the staff, Bruce Springsteen tickets from Michael (which he might not have), a hug from Phylis (a huge moneymaker) and a beer with Darryl (right now). Jim is the lucky winner of the immediate beer, but runs into a familiar face at the bar who makes him question his relationship. This episode also features some great Phylis and Dwight moments and the Dwight and Angela storyline gets some major screen time after Andy passes out the save-the-dates for his wedding to Angela. Special appearance by David Wallace.
1. Business Trip- This is the best episode of season 5 so far. Business Trip follows Michael on a trip to Canada accompanied by Andy and Oscar. He is there to sell paper to an international client, but instead finds himself caught up with the "intoxicating" beauty of the hotel concierge, Marie (played by Wendi McLendon Covey of Reno 911 fame). Back at Dunder Mifflin Scranton, Jim (along with everyone else in the office) is excited for Pam's return, which is less than a week away. Things take a turn for the worse however when Pam informs Jim that she failed a class and has to stay and retake it, which means twelve more weeks in New York. Jim is supportive but visibly upset, as is Pam. Ryan moves back into the annex next to Kelly and does his best to impress her (with one-handed push-ups). Kelly tries to remain true to Daryl but quickly falls back into her old ways. Back in Canada, Michael, Andy and Oscar go out to a bar where they run into concierge Marie. Andy works his wingman magic and the sparks begin to fly. Once that mission is accomplished, Andy sets his sights on helping Oscar find some action. Though his plan doesn't work, Andy and Oscar do spend some quality drunk time (Long Island Ice Tea's are much stronger in Canada) together and end up bonding. When Oscar asks Andy how he can stand Angela they give her a drunk dial to ask why Angela won't sleep with Andy. Michael realizes by the end of the night that he is really misses Holly, who he still loves. This is Oscar's best episode ever (Oscar drunk and laughing is contagious) and Andy is the most endearing he's ever been. Plus, the resolutions to the Jim/Pam and Ryan/Kelly stories are tear-inducing and hilarious respectively. Also featuring a priceless Daryl scene, even though he doesn't speak.
