The Lehigh Valley has dozens of coffee shops scattered throughout, including plenty of Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks coffee shops, but the best coffee is always to be found at the independently owned coffee houses in the Bethlehem area. Here are my picks for the top 3 independent coffee shops in the Lehigh Valley.

Wired Gallery and Cafe, a very popular coffee shop in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, uses only Counter Culture coffee (http://www.counterculturecoffee.com/), which offers high-quality sustainable coffee, as well as a variety of teas, as well as cold beverages and desserts, including items from the popular Bethlehem vegan bakery Vegan Treats. As you may have noticed from the name, Wired is also a gallery featuring a changing display of works from local artists, and many of the pieces of artwork are available for purchase as well. Throughout the month, Wired Gallery and Cafe also boasts a variety of events from live music and poetry to an occasional knitting club meeting. Wired Gallery and Cafe also offers free Wi-Fi as well as outdoor seating and is a great place to meet up with friends for a cup of coffee, enjoy one of their events, or simply browse the Internet when you have some time to spare, making this diverse cafe a great pick for one of the top 3 independent coffee shops in the Lehigh Valley.

Deja Brew is yet another popular, independent coffee shop in the Lehigh Valley. It can be found in South Side Bethlehem, not far from the campus of Lehigh University. They offer a variety of soups and sandwiches along with a variety of coffee and non-coffee beverages and other treats. The decor of the shop is a bit quirky and funky with ample and comfortable seating choices. The food selection is vegetarian friendly, too!
