Top 3 Musician Cameos in Movies

Angeliki Coconi
Musicians like to experiment with acting, and actors always try to do something music related at some point in their careers. While it is rare that an actor or musician does great in both the areas, there have been a few moments when the audience and the fans have enjoyed the experience a great deal. There have been a few good music performances by actors, and some good acting by musicians.

Musicians have often taken on the lead in films, but even more often the directors have casted them in short cameos that are usually funny and make the film more enjoyable and unforgettable to the viewers. Our top three musician movie cameos are the following:

3. Billy Idol in "The Wedding Singer"

The film is about many things, but mainly it is a film about the eighties. So one of the eighties' biggest names, just has to make an appearance at some point. And not only he does, but he also saves the day on a plane ride with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. He gives advice to Sandler and how to get the girl of his dreams back, he makes sure that his new friend gets the chance to sing his love tune over the intercom and then stops Drew Barrymore's fiancée from getting in between the two lovers when they finally manage to find each other on the plane. It is love in the eighties and "see? Billy Idol gets it"! His cameo reminds us why we still think he is cool.

2. David Bowie in "Zoolander"

David Bowie judges a "walk-off" of two male supermodels on the runway, when they decide that this is just the only way to settle their differences. And it is of course clear to everyone in this pre-runway party that the only person with enough experience on the field is the glam rock king David Bowie. And he proves that he is still indeed the best for the job, when he wastes no time to set the ground rules: "Now, this'll be a straight walk-off, old school rules. First model walks; second model duplicates, then elaborates. Okay, boys - let's go to work"! And let's face it, we always do what the glam teacher tells us.

1. Bruce Springsteen in "High Fidelity"

John Cusack who is obsessed with music but knows little about adult living, has a conversation with Bruce Springsteen in his head. They talk about Cusack's ex girlfriends and how to make sure they forgive him for everything he's done in the past. And the best to give the answer to that, is nobody else but the Boss, who, while playing his guitar, says: "Give that big final good luck and goodbye to your all time top-five and just move on down the road". And Cusack just has to accept his genius and do as he says: "Good luck, Goodbye. Thanks, Boss". And this is when we remember why in difficult times, we can always count on Bruce Springsteen for help.
