Top 3 Parks in Millburn, NJ

Millburn, NJ was once part of Newark and is located in Essex County. It offers its residents a deep history and many parks to stretch your legs and get active. Here are the top 3.

1) Gero Park: This is the center of recreation in the Township of Millburn. The Park is sprawled on 36 acres with many facilities that would not be common at your standard park. Gero has a large recreation building available to its residents and offers year round sports and activities for adults and children alike. The park also houses the Swimming facility which includes a main pool with a water slide and a large 0 depth entry wading pool with water umbrella. The club features changing rooms, snack bar and swim team and swimming lessons. There is parking throughout the park and usually a non-issue. This facility is available for all residents for a small annual fee. If golfing is you forte' Gero park offers a 3 par course for residents as well. The golf club does require an annual fee and non-residents that work in the Township have a limited chance to join as well.

2) South Mountain Reservation: The South Mountain Reservation is only partially in Millburn and services the entire Essex County. The Park is over 2000 acres and has parking throughout the park. Some of the main features include indoor ice-skating, the Washington Rock lookout Historic site, ten picnic areas, multiple hiking trails, fishing, archery, and the main draw of Turtle Back Zoo. This is the biggest recreation center in Essex County and can fill a weekend with outdoor fun.

3) Briant Park. This park is a local favorite. Briant offers a pond, exercise stations, scenic bridges and creeks, and a comfortable walk path around the park. Street parking is available and usually not an issue. The park is 150 acres and Briant pond is housed on a natural spring. Little treasures will take you throughout the park and you will feel at home with the family friendly atmosphere.
