Halloween is just around the corner. Don't let yourself be caught unprepared for Halloween this year. Do some research on what you might like to be and hit the stores. While there aren't a lot of places in Bakersfield to buy costumes compared to larger cities like LA, there are still places you can go to find the costume of your dreams. #1: Spirit Halloween Store

Spirit Halloween Store is THE place to go to for Halloween costumes in Bakersfield. They are only open around Halloween and their store is 100% Halloween gear. If you can't find a costume for you at this store, you may not be able to find one anywhere. The prices are average and you can always ask a staff member for help. If you sign up at the Spirit Halloween Store website, you may be able to store yourself a coupon (last year I got one for 10% off).

People donate their old costumes (sometimes they are still new in the package!) that can in turn, become a new costume to you at a fraction of the price when it was sold new. There are several Goodwill's in Bakersfield so if you don't find what you want at one store, go to the rest until you find something that will work. The Goodwill is open seven days a week, typically from 10 AM to 6 PM Monday through Saturday and opening at 11 AM on Sundays.

#3: Fantasy Frocks

Fantasy Frocks Costumes is a well known downtown business that sells costumes. They have a pretty decent selection so you're sure to find something to wear for Halloween. If you don't want to buy a costume outright, you can also rent it. Their prices are comparable to other new costume stores, ranging from moderate to more expensive.
