First dates are important. Everyone knows that people judge each other based on their first impression, so a relationship, too, is judged on the first date. If it goes poorly, there might not be a second one. So if you're looking for dating ideas in Danville, Kentucky, here are a few places that are sure to make the first date a memorable one:

Perryville Battlefield

I know, you're probably thinking that a battlefield isn't exactly the best place for a first date, right? Wrong. The battlefield is actually a perfect place. Think of it as a large park where people died a long time ago, just don't tell your date that.

The actual battlefield museum is only open on occasion, so if you're wanting to visit that then you'll have to find the times on the website, though I wouldn't recommend it on the first date. I also wouldn't exactly recommend walking around and looking at all the cannons. It's just not very exciting first date material. So why go to a battlefield? The picnic grounds.

Perryville Battlefield is very well known for having a large picnic area with beautiful kept grass, complete with grills, even. It's usually a pretty quiet place, depending on when you go, and you can find a spot off to yourselves and enjoy a quiet picnic. It's a great summer date spot to give you plenty of time to spend talking and you can even wow your date with your impressive cooking (or at least take credit for someone else's cooking).

The park doesn't cost anything to visit and it's open 24/7.

Constitution Square

Again, the history of this place might not be so interesting for a first date. This was the original seat of Kentucky's government and there are some neat things to look in them. If your date is a history buff, a self-guided tour is free and might be a nice thing to share with them.

If not, a picnic is another nice idea. Like Perryville Battlefield, there are picnic tables all over the place and the grounds are really pretty. The only downside is that it's in the middle of town, so, unlike Perryville, there will be a lot of traffic and noise.

On the other hand, it's only a few minutes' walk away from The Hub, which is a very popular cafe owned by Centre College that has reasonably-priced, good food. Their frappes, smoothies, cappuccinos, and lots of other specialty drinks are delicious. Even a drink-tasting date would be something interesting and would let you have time to connect.

And what woman could resist the allure of ice cream? Another five minutes' walk down the road produces Baskin Robbins and the choice of any kind of ice cream you could ever want! Perhaps the best idea is to grab an ice cream and then make the trek to Constitution Square enjoying a cool refreshment on the way.

Bowlarama Lanes

Instead of going to the movies, which can be a impersonal date where you never actually have the chance to talk, take your date bowling. As long as you're not competitive, it's a little more fun and lets you laugh and hang out. Plus, it only costs about $10 - $15 for two people for an hour's bowling.

The great thing about Bowlarama is that when you get bored with bowling you can go into the back where there's a pool table, air hockey table, and some arcade games and try something new. My husband and I have personally spent hours there just hanging out and enjoying ourselves at the different games. If you go at the right time it's not too busy, but try to avoid the peak hours when a lot of people are going to be wanting to go out otherwise it might be difficult to get the chance to use a table.
