1. The Chatterbox-I decided to place this restaurant at the top because of their logo, "Where the town meets". This restaurant has been around since 1937. It is a tradition for most to eat at this very restaurant every time they visit Ocean City. Maybe you will want to make it yours as well.
Location: 9th Street and Central Avenue, Ocean City, New Jersey 08226.
Contact Info: Call (609) 399-0113
Menu: The Chatterbox is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner all year round. You can order breakfast all day except for between the hours of 5-9pm. The Chatterbox has your standard breakfast foods all priced fairly. Here are a few examples: Buttermilk pancakes for $3.95, Steak and Eggs for $8.95, and a Cheese Omelet for $4.75. Lunch consists of your favorite burger ($3.75), cheese steak ($5.95), grilled cheese ($3.25), hot roast beef sandwich ($7.25), and shrimp in a basket ($6.95). There are more options of course, but they are all standard for a lunch menu. For Dinner you can choose from one of 13 appetizers and 10 salads. You can choose from seafood, steaks, chicken, pasta, or pork dishes. My favorite is the chicken parm with spaghetti for $13.95.
Overall, I think the Chatterbox is perfect for just about any family. It is affordable and fun.
2. Callahan's Restaurant-this restaurant was once known as Arlene's on Asbury. Don't let the name change fool you, this restaurant still has the same owners and the same great quality foods.
Location: 624 Asbury Avenue, Ocean City, New Jersey 08226
Contact info: (609) 399-3639
Menu: This restaurant only serves breakfast and lunch, but is open 7 days per week. I wanted to include this restaurant even though they do not serve dinners because Restaurant Row voted them "Best Breakfast". Prices at Callahan's are extremely reasonable and affordable for all families. They even have an excellent children's menu called Kiddie's Corner. The Kiddie Corner pancakes are served in the shape of Mickey Mouse and only cost $3.25. That includes 2 strips of bacon and a small juice. Adults can get their pancakes for $4.25 or $3.25 if you want a short stack. They have all the standard breakfast foods. Their juices are all served chilled. Some specialties include Stuffed French Toast (3 pieces of texas toast stuffed with cream cheese), Cinnamon Bun French Toast, or add kielbasa as a side order. The lunch menu looks much like a dinner menu so if you get there right before closing you can have yourself an early dinner. Lunch includes meats, chickens, seafoods, salads, and pastas. I recommend the fresh flounder broiled in lemon butter sauce served over rice and veggies for $12.95.
The Chatterbox promises to provide nourishing meals prepared with the freshest quality ingredients available.
3. Bloom 'n Tulip-this restaurant specializes in American cuisine.
Location: 10th and Ocean Avenues, Ocean City, New Jersey 08226
Contact info: (609) 399-4953
Menu: Bloom 'n Tulip is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Children's menus are available if you request them. Children's dishes range in price from $3.50-$4.25 for breakfast, and start at $4.95 for dinner. The adults can choose from over 13 different kinds of omelets, 12 kinds of appetizers, plus the standard breakfast and dinner foods. Bloom 'n Tulip also offers fresh fruit and juices you can purchase individually or as a fruit cup. For instance, you can get a 1/2 of a cantaloupe for $1.75 or get the fresh fruit cup for $1.75. Dinners start at $9.95 and end at $23.95. Whether you like chicken, beef, seafood, or pasta you can get it here. The most expensive item is the surf 'n turf, but you really should give it a try if you have the money!
