As of the All-Star Break

All-Star weekend in NBA country has just passed us. After a long first half of the season it can be seen that numerous young players have stepped up their play. Three young men that have done this are all rookies and are point guards. These three players are the top rookies of 2009-2010 as of today.

1. Brandon Jennings: "Young Money" Jennings entered the league as the first high school player to play one year overseas rather then going to college for a year, this is referred to as prep to pro. Despite not putting up the best numbers in his one season overseas, Jennings was picked in the top ten of the 2009 draft. From the start this young man proved the doubters wrong. On only his fifth game in the NBA Jennings logged 55 points, becoming the youngest player to ever score over 50 points. Heading into December Jennings was averaging over 20 points and 7 assist a game. Though he has leveled off to roughly 17 points and 6 assist a game, it is obvious the impact Jennings has had on the Bucks season. He has helped them stay a competitive contender in the eastern conference playoff picture.

2. Stephen Curry: This kid can flat out shoot. This was obvious in the All-Star Rookie vs. Sophomore game this year. Curry has posted an impressive 15 points and 5 rebounds a game average this season, while still playing aside Monta Ellis. It has been a regular occurrence lately that Curry puts up over 20 points a game. In fact, the last game before this years All-Star break Curry recorded a triple double. With his flat out skill and ability to mingle well with "needy" players Curry shows he is one of the top rookies so far this year.

3.Tyreke Evans- Evan's numbers are just flat out amazing. He is averaging 20 points 5 rebound and 5 assist so far this season. Not only are his numbers great, but so is the viewing pleasure of his on court performances. The only thing that really hurts the value of Evans is the team he plays for. Lets face it, playing on a team filled with lower level talent players can easily inflate ones numbers. Despite this being true, Evan's performance should still be recognized. So much so that he should be considered one of the top rookie performers from the first half of this years NBA season.
