Top 3 Spots for a First Date in Palm Beach County, Florida

Jennifer Williams
Planning a first date can be a nerve-wracking experience, but if you live in Palm Beach County, you've got it made. South Florida is paradise, and there are numerous destinations that will help develop that budding romance. Here are three of my favorite.

Guanabanas

This newly remodeled tiki bar and restaurant is what living in Florida is all about. The atmosphere simply cannot be beat. With its lush, tropical landscaping and large outdoor dining space, this place is sure to put your date in a laidback mood.

The restaurant serves a wide array of Floribbean cuisine. Try the Key West Lime Shrimp or the Tequila Lime Chicken with a side of Island Cole Slaw or Cuban Black Beans and Rice. Entrees will run you between $10 and $30.

Parking is valet only, and the place can get quite crowded on weekends. No reservations are accepted, so be prepared for a long wait. Pre-dinner is the perfect time to grab a drink from the bar, listen to the smooth sounds of a reggae band on the stage, and get to know your date a little better.

Guanabanas is located at 960 North A1A in Jupiter, Florida. Call (561)747-8878 for more information.

CityPlace

CityPlace is the premier dining and shopping destination in West Palm Beach. It's comprised of 600,000 square feet of retail businesses. Dine at one of the ten restaurants, then catch a movie in the 20-screen movie theater. Old-world architecture, beautiful fountains and sidewalk cafes create a romantic setting for a date after dark.

Parking is easy thanks to several nearby parking garages. CityPlace is located at 700 South Rosemary Avenue in West Palm Beach. Call (561) 366-1000 for more information.

Picnic on the Beach

If you're more of a romantic and you really want to impress your date, how about packing a picnic and hitting the beach? The beaches on Palm Beach or Jupiter make the perfect spots for a picnic. Plan your date for the evening, just as the heat from the day is starting to wane. By that time, most of the crowds will have gone home, too. And depending on the season, you could wind up with the beach to yourselves. Nothing could be more romantic than watching the day's last light leave the sky, while snuggling up to your date. Your thoughtfulness is sure to score you a kiss - and maybe even a second date.
