How to Dance like a White Guy, Evolution of Dance, and Blowing Up a Whale

I'm sure you've seen them--those little videos that you get by email or instant message that become popular without any kind of publicity campaign whatsoever. They call them viral for a reason. They spread like wildfire over the Internet, being passed from person to person by mail, online bulletin boards, or even word of mouth. Some of them, I have to admit, are pretty good. Here are my picks for the top three.

1. How to Dance Like a White Guy: Teaches you how to dance if you're tired of rhythm. The "Point to the Lord" and "Break a Hip"...yes, I think I've actually witnessed some of these moves before. I love the honky tonk atmosphere in the video and, hey, I'm from Indiana so I think it's pretty funny. With over 1,000,000 views, other people must think so, too. It's more than slightly politically incorrect, so if you're easily offended, cover your eyes. Otherwise, you can watch it here.

2. Evolution of Dance: Now if you want to see real dancing...this guy is amazing. Using his great dance skills (seriously, he discos better than my mom), comedian and motivational speaker Judson Laipply shows how dancing has changed over the years. He twists his way through Elvis, break dancing, and Vanilla Ice, giving you a hilarious six minutes of moves. It has over 142,000,000 views. Take a look at it here. Dance along if you want. You couldn't be any worse than the people in my number one slot.

3. Whale Blows Up: Shows the genius that is the Oregon Highway Department. When a dead whale washes ashore, they decide the best way to get rid of the 45-foot carcass is to blow it up. I can't tell you what the best solution to this problem would be, but I can tell you that it should not involve 20 cases of dynamite. Their hope is that the blast will disintegrate most of the whale and blow the rest of it into bits small enough for the seagulls. Instead, it rains eight tons of blubber on nosy spectators and cars a quarter of a mile away. It's gotten over 550,000 views. Watch it here.

These are just a few of the incredibly funny viral videos floating around the Net. The next time you get one in your inbox, open it. It might just tickle your funny bone enough to send it on.
