Nestled in the Smoky Mountains, it is known as "the wedding capital of the South". 42,000 weddings are held per year in Gatlinburg and many say it is due to the picturesque and fairytale-like setting and architecture. Other statistics analysts say it is due to the low fee for a marriage license in Servier County, $39 for out of state couples. There are many getaways for newlyweds such as the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and the Smoky Mountain National Park itself. The city becomes the most busies with newlyweds in the summer.
Number 2 is the world-renown city of Las Vegas, the city that never sleeps. Here the weddings are known to be quick, in, I do, and out. The city hosts 114,000 a year, the most for any American city. With the wide spectrum of different hotels, chapels, and receptions to choose from, no wonder so many couples choose to get married here. Sin City showcases dozens of casinos and luxurious hotels, among them the Bellagio and the recently opened Venetian. Weddings in Las Vegas are generally cheaper since couples can select from a vast variety of wedding packages.
