Post a CommentAs I live in Portugal right now, I'm all about stuff from Alentejo, Duoro, etc.
Australian Shiraz is my favorite. But don't despair, wine lover's; Crane Lake at 3 bottles for $10 is delicious.
Nicely done. Wine surely does make the meal.
These are great suggestions and i love how you show that you can go pricey and not so pricey if needed =D
Nice list but expensive. I am particular to Concha y Toro's Casillero Del Diablo Carmenere, it runs for about $14 for a 1.5L bottle. Its great around Christmas because its often on sale and the taste of plums, chocolate and spice fit with most Christmas dishes. Congrats on the feature!
I';m a little shocked that the cheapest priced wine is actually the wine that usually cost the most of the three. It takes a lot more money in order to produce Pinot. Pinot is the most difficult of all red wines to make. I would agree that Australia is the place to find bargain wines at the moment. Little Penguin (under $10.00) makes terrific wine. They do not have the right climate for Pinot though. Oregon maybe the best these days in the world, but once again it cost money. For a good Oregon Pinot you are looking in the 40'ish range. I also like Walla Walla Washington Reds like Cab/Sav and Merlot and they put out a terrific Syrah, especially K-Vinters. Walla Walla is currently the leading wine region in the world. I still think Chard is best in California... AND can be purchased less than $10.00 for a decent bottle.
Great article. The Pinot Noir sounds like the ticket.
Boxed Wine Critic, a helluva fine choice.
May I suggest the Franzia Chillable Red, $11.99 for five liters...2008...good year...
I agree. Wonderful list and congratulations on being featured on the front page of AC!
