Whether you own a dog or not, you can have a lot of fun at Minnesota dog shows. Each dog show is a little bit different, but they all share one thing in common: a love of canines.


Some of the best Minnesota dog shows are hosted by the Minneapolis Kennel Club. Founded in 1933, the Minneapolis Kennel Club has been hosting dog shows and advancing the interests of Minnesota dog owners for years.


Whether you want to show your dog show off at Minnesota dog shows or are simply looking for a good kennel, you have plenty of dog shows to choose from in the twin cities. The following are a few favorite shows held near Minneapolis and St. Paul.



Minneapolis Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show


This dog show attracts well over 1000 dogs every year. Participating dogs in the Minneapolis Kennel Club Dog Show come from a variety of AKC recognized breeds. They represent groups such as hunting, toy, terrier, hound, and many others. The dog show is generally is held during the third week of November at Canterbury Park.


Land O' Lakes Kennel Club, Inc.


This American Kennel Club dog show is held in the Roy Wilkins Auditorium at the St. Paul River Centre. Dogs can compete in several events, including obedience, conformation and agility. If you get sick of watching dogs compete, you can always shop at over 60 vendors that sell dog food, toys, kennels and a variety of other supplies.



Lake Minnetonka Kennel Club


This all breed dog show takes place over a three-day weekend in early June. It is held at the Scott County Fairgrounds in Jordan. Specialty competitions take place on Friday and all breed competitions are held on Saturday and Sunday. There are over a thousand beautiful dogs featured at the Lake Minnetonka Kennel Club, so be prepared for some stiff competition.



Northstar Working Group Association


At the Northstar Working Group Association's dog show, the dogs are professionals. All dogs in the American Kennel Club working group are descended from dogs bred to help humans in their work. Breeds featured at the Northstar Working Group Association include the akita, Siberian husky, rottweiler, boxer, mastiffs and many others. The show is typically held in late August at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo.
