5. Click (2006)
Synopsis:
In a "dramedy" co-starring Kate Beckinsale and Christopher Walken, Adam Sandler plays Michael Newman, a workaholic who tries to balance his career and family. While out looking for a universal remote after a night of domestic frustration, Michael meets a man who gives him one that can do more than just control his electronics; it can control his entire life. He thinks this remote is the greatest thing ever until his life begins to fall apart because of it.
Why this is a top Adam Sandler Movie:
While Sandler has failed with some of his other attempts at drama acting in such movies as Spanglish and Funny People, he succeeds here with Click because of a good balance of comedy and drama in this heartwarming story.
4. Billy Madison (1995)
Synopsis:
In his breakthrough movie, Adam Sandler plays Billy Madison, the slacker son and heir to his rich father's thriving hotel business. The catch is, to inherit it all, Madison must earn his high school diploma by repeating all grade levels from K-12.
Why this is a top Adam Sandler Movie:
The interactions between Madison and the grade school kids make for a hilarious mix and opens the door for countless jokes throughout the movie. Numerous one-liners came out of this movie that are still recited by people today. "Clor-o-fil, more like Bor-o-fil" is just one example.
3. The Wedding Singer (1998)
Synopsis:
The Wedding Singer is the first romantic comedy that brings together Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Sandler plays Robbie Hart, an 80's wedding singer who goes spiraling into depression after being left at the altar. Just when he thinks all hope for love is gone, he finds himself falling for an already engaged waitress, Julia Sullivan, played by Drew Barrymore.
Why this is a top Adam Sandler Movie:
How can a movie making fun of the 80's fashion of big hair, fluffy dresses, and neon-colored suits go wrong? And is there anything funnier than Adam Sandler singing, especially while drunk or angry? Top it off with Drew Barrymore as his co-star and you've got the perfect date movie.
2. Happy Gilmore (1996)
Synopsis:
Adam Sandler plays Happy Gilmore, a brash, short fused aspiring hockey player. While Gilmore fails at hockey because can't skate well, he discovers his power shot transfers over to the game of golf.
Why this is a top Adam Sandler Movie:
Take the uptight, ritzy atmosphere of the golf course and add a loud, short tempered guy that says and does whatever he wants and you've got what makes Happy Gilmore a favorite among many. Who can forget the fight scene between Happy and Bob Barker of all people?
1. 50 First Dates (2004)
Synopsis:
This romantic comedy re-unites Adam Sandler with Drew Barrymore and tells the tale of Lucy, an art teacher who has lost her ability to retain new memories after a car accident. Sandler plays womanizer turned romantic Henry Roth who falls in love with Barrymore's character and must find new ways to make her fall for him again and again everyday.
Why this is a top Adam Sandler Movie:
Sandler's typical slapstick humor along with a cute storyline is why this romantic comedy appeals to both men and women. But it is the great one-liners and supporting cast of odd characters played by the likes of Rob Schneider and Sean Astin that make 50 First Dates his best.
