Top 5 Affordable PCs for Students Returning Back to School

It is important for every student to have a personal computer to complete his or her work. Most school assignments in the technological age of the twenty first century require a computer with a connection to the Internet. While a computer is costly, it also can be difficult trying to decide which type is best for a student in school. Most students really just need the basics and software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Students in school aren't in need of anything too fancy when it comes to technology. With some simple research and some "window shopping," it can be easy to find the perfect PC for a student in school.

For students who are on a budget, an eMachine is an affordable route to take. The machine ET1331G-05W Refurbished Desktop PC from Tiger Direct is available at only about $320 plus shipping. It comes preloaded with Windows 7 and a 750 GB hard drive. There is also 4GB of DDR2 memory. The Emachine also is accessorized with a DVD drive for DVD burning to make back-up Cd's, store information and to watch movies. For college students, this computer could act as their own personal DVD player without the expense of having to purchase one.

Another price-breaker at Tiger Direct is the Lenovo IdeaCentre Q150 4081-3AU Desktop PC at just $220. It's thin and small sized screen creates more available desk space (the screen is less than an inch wide) and also has the ability to be mounted as well. The Lenovo comes preloaded with Windows XP Home Edition, has a VESA mounting bracket for attaching to the back of a monitor so that it can act both as a computer and television (perfect for college students) and offers 160 GB of available hard drive space. The computer also has Wifi capabilities.

The HP Compaq dx2400 Microtower PC has been designed for both home and the student offering Windows Vista Home Premium as its operating system and 320GB of available hard drive space. For students who need to make sure their work is saved and back up, the HP Compaq also has Backup and Recovery Manager Software combined with a SATA 3.0 Smart IV hard drive. This can insure that a student shouldn't have to worry about losing his/her work.

Some students just need simple tools such as Internet browsing, emailing and of course-social networking with their friends. The simple and affordable CybertronPC LIT201A Leggero NetTop PC offers those popular and basic features. The Cybertron is available at TigerDirect at just $300 plus shipping. The simple PC also comes preloaded with Windows 7. It comes available with 1GB of DDR2 memory and 160 GB of hard drive.

If your student(s) would like to install a certain operating system of their choice, they may choose the Systemax NO OS AMD Desktop Computer. This allows a student to install an operating system of their choice according to their educational needs. The Systemax is also very affordable at just $260 at TigerDirect. Also available with the PC is a DVD-RW for movie watching, DVD burning, CD ripping and program installations. The hard drive holds 250 GB of space and supports up to 4 GB of memory.

These five affordable PC's could be the perfect fit for your student returning back to school. Each PC offers unique functions and capabilities that would serve its purpose for completing school tasks. Also, the price tags are all less than $500, making it easier on a family's tight financial budget.

If the student does not need a lot of hard drive or super quick speeds, these are wonderful suggestions!
