My top 5 all-time favorite romantic comedies. The romantic comedies that I chose for my list are timeless, and will make you believe all is possible when it comes to love and romance. These feel-good romantic comedies all have twist and turns, and many of these journeys we can relate too.

Moonstruck is a romantic comedy that came out in 1987. It was directed by Norman Jewison, and written by Patrick Shanley. It starred Cher, Nicholas Cage and Danny Aiello. This romantic comedy movie is about not settling when it comes to love, because true love may be around the corner. Moonstruck is about a bookkeeper named Loretta, who is played by Cher. Her husband passes away and she wants to get married again. Loretta meets Johnny, who is played by Danny Aiello. She doesn't love him, but he is a good man and she decides it is good enough. That is until she meets his younger brother played by Nicholas Cage. Their undeniable attraction when they meet leads them to passion. After that meeting, Loretta gets a makeover, and through many twist and turns love wins in the end in this timeless romantic comedy.

Pretty Women is a romantic comedy that came out in 1990. It was written by J.F. Lawton, and directed by Gary Marshall. It starred Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. This movie is for the romantic at heart that believes in fairy tale endings. Julia Roberts plays Vivian, who is a Hollywood hooker. She runs into Edward, played by Richard Gere, who is a tycoon. Edward just needs Vivian for a week of dates with no romantic involvement. As days go by, he finds himself falling for Vivian. They both adapt and change to help fit into each other's world. It has an ending that will make you believe in fairy tales, and all is possible when it comes love and romance.

Sleepless in Seattle is a romantic comedy that came out in 1993. It was directed by Nora Ephron, and also written by her along with Jeff Archer and David S. Ward. It starred Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. This is a die-hard romantic comedy for those who believe in soul mates, and that a long distance love can be successful. Meg Ryan plays the character Annie who is a journalist that listens to a late night talk show. She hears Sam's son, Sam is played by Tom Hanks, talk about how his father should have a wife. Anne decides that this man is meant for her. Unfortunately, she is engaged and he lives on the other side of the country. This romantic comedy gives hope to all of those who believe that through all the bumps in the road to finding true love and a soul mate, the journey can be worth it.

As Good As It Gets
is a romantic comedy that came out it 1997. It was written by Mark Andrus, and directed by James L. Brook. It starred Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt and Greg Kinnear. This romantic comedy is about finding love and friendship in the most unlikely circumstances. Carol played by Helen Hunt, is a waitress that has an asthmatic son. Melvin, played by Jack Nicholson is a uptight, cranky writer in need of some manners. Simon is Melvin's gay neighbor, and is played by Greg Kinnear. When Simon is hospitalized, Melvin has to take care of Simon's dog. Carol is the only waitress who will put up with him, but has to leave to take care of her sick son. This leaves Melvin unable to have breakfast. This turns a complicated weekend for the three of them into positive life-altering experiences. This romantic comedy can teach us about unexpected friendships and love found in unusual circumstances.

It's Complicated is a romantic comedy that came out in 2009. It was written and directed by Nancy Meyers. It starred Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. This timeless romantic comedy is about a divorced couple, Jane played by Meryl Streep, and Jake played by Alec Baldwin, that rekindle their spark at their son's graduation. The twist is they are divorced, and he is married to the younger women he left his wife for. Jane is now playing the other women and Jake realizes what he gave up. Through the twist and turns the kids accidentally find out about their parents, and Jane meets Adam, played by Steve Martin. This timeless romantic comedy has twist right up to the end, but will leave you feeling happy that Jane got what she deserved, real happiness.
