Smartphones are a dime a dozen these days and when you search for a smartphone it seems like all you can find anymore are Androids and iPhones. These operating systems aren't the only ones available just the ones getting the most publicity right now. That's where this article comes in, the top five alternatives to iPhone or Android smartphones. In this article you will find the top phone from each of 5 alternate operating systems. The operating systems that will be covered are Palm OS, Symbian, Windows, Hiptop, and RIM so let's get to it shall we?

It's hard to narrow this bit to one phone in particular when there are five great new phones just hitting the market. All five of these phones will be using the new Windows 7 phone OS and pushing the envelope for Microsoft.   • There are other smartphones being manufactured besides the Android lines.
  • More press doesn't necessarily make a better phone.
Windows has largely been left behind in the smartphone market, with many of their phones operating on the antiquated Win CE operating system. However, with their new OS Windows 7 for phones Windows makes a come back.
