Top 5 Beach Cover-Ups for Summer 2009

B. Marie
Summer has rolled around and while you may have already purchased this season's new bathing suits, it's time to stock up on a trendy cover-up to throw on after a dip in the ocean- or the pool. Cover-ups are a great functional item that allow you to hide some of that exposed skin while shopping or getting a bite to eat before or after hitting the beach.

Victoria's Secret Crochet Tunic Sweater, $59: A sweater might not seem like a summer style but a crochet sweater allows for a lighter look. This sweater is a great option to wear to any beach but it also can be worn over a tank top and skinny jeans or leggings in the other seasons. I would recommend sticking with the natural color though as the black starts to look like a spider web.

Victoria's Secret Grommet Cover-up Tunic, $43: This cover-up is of the more traditional style however the large grommets and lace up detail add a little flair. Pair it with gold gladiator sandals and you have yourself a fabulous day look.

Eddie Bauer Jersey Cover-Up Dress, $44.50: Another lace up cover-up; this one a little more modest than the previous. The sea glass color is a great beach color for this summer. This dress easily could easily pass for a sun dress- therefore can be worn off the beach also.

Old Navy Metallic-Gauze Swim Cover-Up, $24.50: My choice for best budget-friendly cover-up. The gauze material is nice and lightweight which is great for hot days. With four color choices from bright to basic there are plenty of options for everyone.

Pucci Silk Cotton Voile Tunic Cover-Up, $651: Best designer cover-up of 2009. The waist belt is flattering for women of any shape and the colors of the tunic shout summertime on the beach. This cover up can be paired with wedges as a great day look.
