Top 5 Beaches in Orange County, California

C.A. Jacobs
When visiting Orange County, California, you must visit the beach. Whether you want solitude, to be with family, socialize, or simply enjoy the sunset, there is a particular beach to meet your needs. Although there are several different beaches along the Pacific Coast Highway, these are the five best beaches to see while in Orange County, California.

Top Orange County Beach #1: Crystal Cove
Crystal Cove Beach, located in Newport Coast at Pacific Coast Highway and Los Trancos, is part of a 3.5-mile state park. With parking lots on top of the cliff, there is ample parking. After walking down a path or stairs - depending on where you parked - you reach the shore. The beach is usually pretty quiet allowing a nice private location for you to listen to the waves. It is also a great stretch of shore to go for a nice run in the morning. Another feature of this beach is the vast 1,140 acre underwater park to explore by snorkel or scuba diving.

Top Orange County Beach #2: Newport Beach
Newport Beach, located on Balboa Blvd., at Oceanfront and 21st Street, is a great place to get the full Southern California beach experience. With the pier, shopping and restaurants, Newport Beach is a true Southern California experience, This five mile long beach has an expanse of everything you could need. There are plenty of bonfire pits, paths to run or bike, and waves that are perfect for anyone.

Top Orange County Beach #3: Corona Del Mar
If you are looking for a great family beach to explore, Corona Del Mar, located at Marguerite Ave. and Ocean Blvd., is just what you need. Although this beach is not as large as some others, it is always heavily populated with families of all kinds.

Top Orange County Beach #4: Crescent Bay
Crescent Bay, off of Circle Way near Cliff Drive, is a great small beach to experience diving to the full extent. Although there is not excessive parking, it is definitely worth the struggle. This beach is often home to seals off of Seal Rock. This is a great beach to start learning about diving. Of course, you can always just enjoy the small waves and get a nice tan, too.

Top Orange County Beach #5: Huntington Beach
Huntington Beach is another great beach to fish, swim, and enjoy the scenery. Although surfing is banned during the summer (surprising but true), to account for non-surfers and families, there are plenty of other great ways to enjoy this beach during those summer months. This is a great beach if you want to socialize because there are always plenty of people enjoying the waves.

These are all great beaches. I don't think I've been to all of them. I also like Salt Creek, although crowded.
