Boxing fans are always searching for the next big thing. Right now there are a ton of great prospects in the sport, all eager to leave a mark, and many of them can be found in the stables of Golden Boy Promotions. Take a look at their best, young boxing prospects to see which ones you should keep an eye on.

Fighters listed alphabetically, and for the purposes of this article only fighters that have never fought for a major world title are included on the list (hence no Victor Ortiz). Fight records researched with the help of BoxRec.com, and the updated boxing news and results from ProBoxing-Fans.com.

Rock Allen - Junior Welterweight

Son of trainer Naazim Richardson, Rock Allen was an amateur standout who participated in the 2004 games and who now holds a 15-0 professional record with 7 stoppage victories. He has been inactive over the past several years for a prospect, fighting only five times since the end of 2006.

Danny Garcia - Junior Welterweight

"Swift" Danny Garcia just turned 22 years old, but he has accumulated a 16-0 record with 10 stoppage wins. Opposition has been light but improving, and by the end of the year he should be ready for a larger stage.

Daniel Jacobs - Middleweight

Daniel Jacobs holds a great 19-0 record, with 16 stoppage victories amongst those 19 wins. He has been plenty visible, fighting on the major networks and receiving a ton of hype and exposure. He fought five times through the first eight months of 2009 and then was forced to take about six months off with an injury. His last bout was an early victory over an unknown.

Erislandy Lara - Junior Middleweight

The former Cuban amateur boxing sensation Erislandy Lara is already making waves as a pro, with an 11-0 record and 6 stoppage victories. He's been a pro for less than two years but with his wealth of experience and skill could be fighting for a title before the end of the year.

Abner Mares - Bantamweight

Mares is 20-0 with 14 knockouts, and looks to be the complete package, replete with great technical skill, powerful, precision punching and more. His first title shot comes in May against Yonnhy Perez, giving Mares the chance to leapfrog almost all the way to the top of the division with a win.
