#1) 2008 Honda Fit - MSRP:Base - $13,950 - Fit Sport - $15,270
28 mpg / 34 mpg

The Honda Fit is a utility vehicle wrapped up into a 4-door hatchback. This car can do wonders. It will hold up to 5 people and you can bring your pet along. There is plenty of head and leg room throughout the vehicle. Also, if you need to carry cargo, the Fit will work for you. The seats can fold all the way down from front to back to carry lengthy cargo. Wood, large boxes, you name it, it will fit in this car (no pun intended). Even if you are buying plants or want to take you bike out to the trails, this car will work for you. The back seat bottoms fold up leaving tons of room from floor to ceiling in the rear of the car. This car is perfect in all kinds of ways, especially for being under $20,000.

#2) 2008/2009 Toyota Corolla - MSRP: Base - $15,250
30 mpg / 35 mpg

The Toyota Corolla is a reliable, low maintenance vehicle. You can load it full of features or take it off the lot as is and still be completely satisfied. This car has leg room similar to the Nissan Altima and drives like a Camry. The stereo is not the best in it's class but you can always upgrade that if it doesn't meet your standards. This car is perfect for anyone who wants style as well as reliability. This is one you'll want to keep forever.

#3) 2008 Honda Civic - MSRP: Base - $14,810
26 mpg / 34 mpg
Always a classic, reliable car, the 2008 Honda Civic is another alternative for a great, reliable vehicle under $20,000. Again, like the Corolla, you can choose to go with the base, manual transmission model or you can load this car full of options. Whichever you choose, you will be happy with the reliability of the Civic. It is a great car, looks nice, has a great ride and you can add all of the bells and whistles you want. This car seems to sit a little lower than the Corolla. It has a little bit of a smoother ride to it.

#4) 2008 Volkswagen Jetta - MSRP: Base - $16,990
21 mpg / 29 mpg

The Jetta has good crash test rating as well as it is equipped with power locks, windows, air condition. It has leatherette that looks and feels like real leather. The car has a great ride, good acceleration and good handling. The transmission also has a spot mode. The Jetta is pretty roomy inside and you can even plug your mp3 player into the stereo. The Jetta has a nice look to it and incredible style. I wasn't impressed with the overall look of the radio, but I feel the car has great features for the price.

#5) 2008 Ford Fusion - MSRP: Base - $18,135
20 mpg / 29 mpg
This car has a main sync system that makes using your phone, ipod and radio easy to use while you are driving. It is completely safe and an awesome featuer for any car! The Fusion has plenty of leg/head room, great handling and is perfect for the price. You can also load this one up with tons of features.
