Top 5 Cheap Ways to Spend Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day Challenge

There is nothing more disappointing than being tight on money on Valentine's Day. Regardless of your financial situation, there are still plenty of fun and romantic things you can do with your partner on Valentine's Day. Below I have listed the top five things you can do with your partner this coming Valentine's Day.

Go for a drive. Make it random. Just grab your partner jump in your car and go. Take the scenic route, or drive to your favorite secluded spot and watch the stars. Don't forget to take a couple of blankets and cuddle under the stars. Your date will love it. Or beforehand, set up a little picnic spot, complete with a blanket, a picnic basket and some snacks. Snack and sip hot chocolate all evening while star gazing.

Have a romantic dinner at home. Fix your partners favorite meal and set up the kitchen just like a fancy restaurant. Use that fancy table cloth you never use and some candles to make the atmosphere. Grab a romantic song CD and put it on repeat so you don't have to be disturbed. Light the candles, turn the lights down, and enjoy your dinner. Finish the night off with a homemade dessert and ice cream.

Go out for dessert. Pick your favorite local restaurant and order only dessert. Order a big dessert for one if you have too that way you both can share (just make sure you both like the same thing!). Or really spice it up and order two different desserts and feed them too each other.

Get dressed up and eat at a fast food restaurant. If you two are feeling kind of silly and want to feel glamorous and have a great time without breaking the bank, then dress up in your best and eat at a local fast food place. You may get a few stares, but you and your date will enjoy the night just the same. If you really want to go all out, take a fancy tablecloth and drape it over the table before you eat. Maybe you can even bring your own centerpiece. If the weather is mild, get takeout and head to your local park for a picnic.

Go sledding or ice skating. If the weather permits, get all bundled out and hit the biggest best hill you can find. If you can't find a hill with snow, go to your local skating rink and try your hand at ice skating. Once you've had your fill of all the snow or you just can't take the cold anymore, head to your local coffee shop and grab some hot chocolate and curl up together on the couch. Better yet, head home and make your own hot chocolate and sit in front of the fire under a blanket.

Don't just take my word for it, there are plenty of ways to spend Valentine's Day without spending hundreds of dollars. Creativity is the key to success when it comes to cheap Valentine's Day planning.
