Beware of walmart gift cards. Don't get them because there is a rampant ongoing scam where walmart employees are giving the customers gift cards with a ZERO balance. Another employee scam is where they give you the giftcard and it is somehow spent hours later before you even give it to the recipient.

Walmart is well aware of this happening but refuses to get involved because of bad publicity and also because they already have your money so they have no reason to spend money trying to solve or prosecute a crime that actually made money for them.

Our family lost HUNDREDS last year on these gift cards and walmart refuses to do anything about it. You can validate my story with many other similar stories just by typing "walmart giftcard scam" into your search engine.
