Top 5 Christmas Movies Of My Choice

We all have our favorite movies we enjoy watching during the holiday season. Each and every one of them brings some sort of memory and joy. Whether we remember watching them as a child or found new ones while growing up, each share meaning and value to us during the Christmas holidays. Everyone's choices are unique in their own way, and there isn't an actual true top 5 list. I've narrowed down my list of top 5 choices and want to share them with you. Some may be the same; others may not be on your same list. All that matters is that the movies that we choose bring us joy and happiness during the upcoming holiday season.

Here are my top 5 starting from the bottom up:

Number 5: Miracle on 34th Street, 1994
Starring: Richard Attenborough, Elizabeth Perkins, and Dylan McDermott
Synopsis: Story about a little girl who no longer believed in Santa Claus until one day, see meets someone who changes her mind and gives her the spirit of believing once again.
Reason to watch: This movie always puts my spirit of Christmas back on the fast track. The story and plot makes me remember what it was like as a kid, and believing in Santa.

Number 4: A Charlie Brown Christmas, 1965
Starring: Ann Altieri, Chris Doran, and Sally Dryer
Synopsis: A story about how Charlie Brown searches to find the true meaning of Christmas
Reason to watch: What more can I say? What would a Christmas be without watching an old time Peanuts Classic?

Number 3: A Christmas Story, 1983
Starring: Peter Billingsley, Melinda Dillon, and Darren McGavin\
Synopsis: Story about a young boy who wants a BB gun for Christmas, and has to persuade those around him that he is mature enough to handle and that it is the right gift for him.
Reason to watch: Another all-time classic movie that I always enjoy to watch. Who doesn't like watching a movie that reminds them of their childhood and what it was like to wish for something so bad, you would do anything to get it?

Number 2: Home Alone, 1990
Starring: Macaulay Culkin, Joes Pesci, and Daniel Stern
Synopsis: Comedy about a little boy left behind by his family by accident and has to fend off local burglars who try to invade his home.
Reason to watch: Although this movie isn't an actual movie about Christmas, it still takes place around Christmas. The holiday spirit and cheer that is apparent and a common theme all throughout the movie makes it a perfect fit for me list. Also, who could resist not watching little Macaulay Culkin put on some aftershave and scream without enjoying a holiday laugh?

Number 1: Elf, 2003
Starring: Will Ferrel, Bob Newhard, James Caan, Mary Steenburgen, and Zooey Deschanel
Synopsis: Comedic Christmas story about a man who was adopted by an Elf and later realizes he is human but believes in the Christmas Spirit, and is forced to help Santa save Christmas.
Reason to watch: Although some may not agree with this one being the top choice, in my books it's number 1. Will Ferrel does a wonderful job portraying a wannabe elf and the carols he sings with co-star Zooey Deschanel always make me feel the joy and happiness of Christmas. Plus, who wouldn't want to watch a movie with Will Ferrel as an 'elf?'
