Top 5 Comic-Con 2010 Video Game Announcements

The following were the five biggest video game related announcements at Comic-Con 2010.

5) Marvel vs Capcom 3 Character Reveals

Although the characters themselves aren't surprising, it's always exciting to see new characters announced for the epic franchise. For those who have not yet heard of the new characters, I'll leave it as a surprise, and instead give you a link to the trailer on Gametrailers and YouTube.

4) DC Universe Online "Who Do You Trust" Trailer Released and Release Date Announced

An absolutely incredible trailer for DC Universe Online was released, giving suggestions to the story background for the upcoming game. You can view the trailer on Gametrailers. In addition, the game was dated for release on November 2, 2010.

3) Mega Man Universe Revealed

The first information about Mega Man Universe was revealed. Although there was scant information about actual gameplay, the first teaser trailer was released (Teaser Trailer at GameTrailers). The trailer suggests that the next Mega Man will allow you to play as multiple characters from the Capcom Universe, including Ryu from Street Fighter and Sir Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins. Series creator Keiji Inafune said that the game will "unite Mega Man fans together all in one place" and allow Mega Man fans to "play as their favorite version of Mega Man, or maybe another Capcom character, or something completely different." It strongly suggests that online-multiplayer and character creation will be available.

2) Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning Revealed

Curt Schilling's 38 Studios assembled an all star cast for the development of their first game. It included legendary comic artist Todd McFarlane (of Spiderman and Spawn fame), veteran RPG developer Ken Rolston (lead designer of Elder Scrolls III and IV), and author R.A. Salvatore (best know for his Forgotten Realms novels). The name of the game and information on the game had not been announced until Comic-Con. While information is still scarce, we know it is an open world action RPG, apparently in the same vein as Elder Scrolls IV. (Launch Trailer at GameTrailers)

1) Street Fighter X Tekken Revealed

Definitely the biggest video game reveal of Comic-Con 2010, a fighting game cross over between Street Fighter and Tekken was formerly announced. I would personally consider this to be a bigger surprise than the appearance of Darth Vader and Yoda in Soul Calibur, and is atleast comprable to the Mario and Sonic cross-licensing on the Wii. There isn't much information out there yet, although it appears that the game will be a bit in the style of Street Fighter and the Capcom Vs. series.
