I won't tell you to cancel your holiday planned with great care in one of the locations below, because some of them have many beautiful things to offer, but I advise you to have your eyes open permanently.
1. Venezuela
Beside the blue waters and amazing landscapes, Venezuela comes with a warning: this country is ranked in the top 3 countries with the highest crime rate in Latin America!
Most accidents occur due to the commerce with drugs and because this country is between Colombia and the United States.
2. Congo
If you're thinking to visit the Democratic Republic of Congo this year, you have to take some bodyguards with you, or at least a gun. Why? Thefts from cars, kidnappings and rapes are the order of the day here.
3. Sudan
Sudan, located in north- east Africa, is an "oasis" of exotic diseases, and there are only 3 hospitals for the 6 million people who live here!
Some diseases are so rare that they are not known in any other place in the world. Among the common but deadly ones, be aware of malaria and Ebola.
4. Colombia
Besides the beautiful places from Caribbean Sea, Colombia hides something: the highest rate of crime in the world! Also, there are reported annually 2300 cases of kidnappings.
During an ordinary day take place: 8 thefts (especially on the highway), 2 bank robberies, 87 crimes and 204 attacks.
5. Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea is a state located in the western Pacific Ocean, north of Australia and east of Indonesia. It is an active area, where earthquakes are often, being included in The Ring of Fire, as the volcanic activity represents 75% of the entire volcanic activity in the world.
Also, reinforcement robberies, thefts from cars and violent crimes are spread all over the country. Even the transportation is dangerous for tourists, being recommended to rent a car.
I suppose there is no need to mention countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan or Somalia. I do not think anyone plans "a dream holiday" in these areas.
