Top 5 Desserts-Ever!

Kathy Romo
Desserts are more than just a treat nowadays. Desserts have become creative and fun and more than just a simple slice of pie! These delicious desserts have been around forever, with good cause...
Cheesecake, oh cheesecake, where art thou cheesecake??

If you haven't been there before, you have to seek and find a Cheesecake Factory in your area. Do you want the largest, most amazing selection of cheesecake, ever? From Fresh Strawberry to Chocolate Coconut Cream, choose from at least 20 different flavors. The Fresh Banana Cream Cheesecake is wonderful, if you are a banana lover, but my very favorite would have to be Brownie Sundae Cheesecake (for the chocolate lover in me). If you are looking for a "lighter" cheesecake option, some Cheesecake Factory's offer a "low carb" choice. Check out www.thecheesecakefactory.com for menu options and locations. Also, Sara Lee offers great cheesecake dessert options to pick up at your local grocer. See www.everydaydesserts.com for details.

Ice cream

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. I don't know if ice cream is a "status quo" dessert anymore or not, but it certainly should be. Just for kids? No way! With so many flavors to choose from nowadays, ice cream is becoming a delicacy as well as a treat. With companies like Ben & Jerry's and Cold Stone Factory adding their special "twists" to the average cone, ice cream is serious business.

Chocolate cake

Has anyone ever really had a bad piece of chocolate cake? Sure, there are definite differences in taste and frosting, but for the most part chocolate cake is one of the best desserts-ever! My husband is a yellow cake with chocolate frosting guy, but I'm definitely an all chocolate gal! Some of the best chocolate cake ever made? While you really can't beat Betty Crocker, most of grandma's old homemade chocolate devil's food cake with homemade frosting is just to die for.

Pumpkin pie

Yes, it's our Thanksgiving dinner dessert...the famed pumpkin pie; the iron maiden of all seasonal desserts. I made my very first pumpkin pie in my mid 20's and I've always made them from scratch every year at Thanksgiving and Christmas since then. For a slight twist on the old faithful dessert, pumpkin pie cheesecake even made it on the list of last holiday's dinner menu. What a treat! And, if you're looking to watch calories with this dessert, look away quickly! You are in the wrong aisle! Speaking of aisles, however, Sara Lee does make a pretty scrumptious easy to bake pumpkin pie.

Apple pie

I'm not ashamed to admit it, apple pie is the cornerstone of all desserts in our country, made specifically for the sole purpose of gratifying our sweet-tooth pallet. It may be an oldie, but it's always a "goodie" in my book. The best apple pie I've ever had came right out of the oven with a small scoop of vanilla bean ice cream "a la mode." If you really want to fancy it up, check out Dean and Deluca's Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie at www.deandeluca.com . There are also some amazing homemade recipes for apple pie, as well as many other classic desserts at www.Allrecipes.com, www.Joyofbaking.com, and www.BettyCrocker.com.
