Top 5 Digital Cameras Guide for Tight Budget Techies

Sean Hein
If you are challenged in the area of technology, shopping for a digital camera could become highly complicated and time consuming process. In this guide, I will round up and explain what are the key features that really matters, as well the best 5 digital cameras for those of you on a tight budget.

There are many features involved in the quality performance of a camera, but if you're just looking for a reasonably priced camera that produces good pictures to share online or to print for your scrapbook, the five I have listed below should be on your list as well.

Keep in mind that all have very little internal storage and you'll need a memory card in order to take a large number of shots between dumping.

For us non-techies, there are four aspects of digital cameras to be concerned with: the number of megapixels (which determines the clarity of the photo); the size of the LCD display; the size of the camera and of course the price.

All of the cameras below are all under $200, are all compact enough to slip in your coat pocket, and all contribute 5 megapixels to your photograph but vary somewhat in the size of the LCD display screen.

I have listed them in order of desirability according to my research and/or my actual experience with each camera.

1-Kodak Easy Share
The largest of the five, 10x zoom lens, 2.2 in LCD display : approx. price $199 (can be outfitted up to $300)

2-Olympus D-630 Zoom
The smallest of the five, 5 megapixels, 3x zoom lens, 2 in LCD display: approx. price $189

3-Samsung Digimax S500
Compact, 5 megapixels, 3x zoom lens, 2.4 in. LCD display: approx. price $199

4-Cannon Powershot SD430
Compact, 5 megapixels, 4x zoom lens, 1.8in LCD display: approx. price $189

5-Polaroid PDC-5070
Compact, 5 megapixels, 3x zoom lens, 1.4 LCD display: approx. price $120

Now most of us would be happy with any of the cameras on the list. However if you looking for professional quality photographs, there are many higher end cameras that will suit your needs better. Digital photography has taken the place of the 110 mm and 35mm cameras we grew up with and are now much easier to use.

The larger the LCD display window allows more of the picture to be seen by the photographer and that gives more of a better idea of what the finished product will look like. Just keep in mind that these cameras won't hold a lot of shots and will require an additional memory card before you go on your summer vacation.

Other than that, it's point, shoot, email, repeat.

  • The are 4 keys aspects to look out for when buying a camera
  • A memory card is needed if you are looking to take alot of shots with your camera
  • What price you pay for your purchase depend on what you want to do with camera
