Top Duet from the musical Phantom of the Opera-
Christine and Raoul singing "All I Ask of You" in the 2004 film version is one of my favorite musical duet pairings. Christine Daea is played by Emma Rossum and the part of Raoul is played by Patrick Wilson. Gerard Butler as the Opera Ghost sings briefly at the end of this duet.
Top Duet from the Musical CATS-
Mungojerrie And Rumpleteazer sung by Drew Varley as Mungojerrie and Jo Gibb as Rumpelteazer is just a very fun song and that's why it is on my list of favorite duets from musicals.
Top Duet from the musical RENT-
Light My Candle sung by Roger (Adam Pascal) and MiMi(Rosario Dawson) makes this list because I happen to really like this song. Rent is one of my favorite musicals that feature Rosario Dawson and Jesse L. Martin who played Detective Green on Law and Order.
Top Duets from the musical Les Miserables-
*Youtube videos of Les Miserables are from the 10th anniversary concert performed at the Royal Albert Hall in October 1995.
Les Miserables was originally written by Victor Hugo then transformed into a musical composed by Claude-Michel Schönberg with lyrics written by Herbert Kretzmer. The story is about the title's literal translation, The Miserable Ones, and follows the lives of several characters in 19th-century France as they deal with revolution, redemption and love. Several musicians have sung parts of the tragic Les Miserables musical including Neil Diamond, Aretha Franklin and most recently Susan Boyle who became famous for her version of "I dreamed a dream" on Britain's Got Talent.
Although there are many worthy performances in Les Miserables only two musical duets make the list; "Fantine's Death: Come to Me"sung by Fantine (Ruthie Henshall) and Jean Valjean (Colm Wilkinson) and "A little fall of rain" sung by Eponine(Lea Salonga) and Marius (Michael Ball). Another worthy mention goes to a male duet between Javert(Philip Quast) and Valjean(Colm Wilkinson) for the song "Javert's Suicide".

Post a CommentI loved Rent, I met his mom when I lived in Boston. It was sad what happened to him. Cheers, nice article.
Excellent idea and article.
This was a nice treat. Les Miserables is one of my favorites. Susan Boyle is wonderful to listen to.
I"m a huge fan of musicals and would have to list West Side Story as among the earliest influences (Sondheim/Bernstein) among musicals, especially since it reached out to a wider audience than many and was (at the time) contemporary. I also like Oliver, Fiddler on the Roof and of course, Les Miserables.
Some interesting choices here! Good work!
Any of the duets in My Fair Lady? "Do You Love Me?" Golde & Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof.
Excellent.
