Top 5 DVDs to Watch when Traveling

The DVDs That'll Make Your Experience on the Road Even More Fun!

1) Zoolander (2001)
Comedy, 89 minutes.

With tag-line "3% Body Fat, 1% Brain Activity," Zoolander is a hilarious movie that could otherwise be called a "guy's film."

Plot: male model (Ben Stiller) has been brainwashed into assassinating the Prime Minister of Malaysia. With this goofy premise and tons of cameos, Zoolander is not only very watchable, but also has high replay value - it just puts men and women alike in a good mood. Definitely a film for relaxing and having fun and eating chips to, not the kind of film for heavy contemplations about the intricacies of cinema :)

2) American Psycho (2000),
Thriller/horror, 101 minutes

About a psychotic, well-off New York investment banking executive, the movie largely focuses on Christian Bale's bloodlust to kill. I recommend this film for on-the-go because it is a thought provoking storyline with an ending that'll really make you and your buddies think.

Christian Bale is impeccable and responsible for all the humor in this film - once you watch it, you'll see what I mean :)

3) Mean Girls (2004)
Comedy, 7 minutes

Guys, give it up. Mean Girls is a great movie to watch - it's fun and the leading ladies are sexpots (my word for sexy). Don't be put off by the girly title, because this film gets all viewers into the world of high-school drama that is immediately relevant to anyone who has been to school (sorry, home schooled kids).

Premise: Lindsay Lohan is the "new girl" at school who gets recruited to the school's "it girls." One of them, played by Rachel McAdams, is the mean girl that Lindsay Lohan tries to secretly sabotage while fighting the urge to become the mean girl herself.

Generally, it's a really easy-to-watch film that is a funny take on the complexities of high school popularity.

4) She's the Man (2006)
Comedy, 105 minutes

The joy of this film derives from its smart play on relationships; after all, it is based off of Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night." The audience will really be intertained by the relationships that get intermingled and the social confusion that arises out of Amanday Bynes pretending to be a dude. Film will please both the teenage and older crowd, and its a fun mood-setter for group settings.

5) 28 Weeks Later (2007), R
Action/Horror, 99 minutes

This is the most gruesome film on the list. It's the type of scary that pops out at you, but damn does the movie do that justice. Following on the heels of 28 Days Later, this bigger and badder sequel returns with another outbreak of the Rage Virus that turns humans into flesh-eating zombies.

Yes, this is a zombie movie, but on crack. From the very first scene, you'll feel like you're running away from the zombies, cheering on whoever has not been infected yet. Parts of this film are extremely graphic and shocking; it exhibits some very raw zombie violence. Do watch it with a bunch of friends and you guys will be screaming, twitching in anticipating, and having fun - this movie really takes you on a ride.

So that concludes my personal picks of best movies to watch on the road with your friends. You will notice that I tried to provide a good mix of the funny, thrilling, scary, and dumb. Remember, watching these movies with a group of friends is ten times more exciting than alone, and I kept that in mind when choosing these fine films.

Interesting choices. I had a different five, which is no surprise really, since there are a ton of movies to choose from. If you're interested see what I selected.
