The Top 5 Edward Norton Movies of All-Time
5. Primal Fear - In his first major movie appearance, Edward Norton plays Aaron Stampler, a quiet seemingly harmless boy charged with the murder of a Catholic archbishop. Richard Gere plays the high-powered defense attorney who takes up the task of defending Stampler. Who really murdered the archbishop and more importantly why did it happen and how did it go down? Norton was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his role.
4. The Score - Sharing the screen with Robert DeNiro, Edward Norton plays thief Jack Teller. Jack has inserted himself as a mentally challenged custodian at a high security facility in order to gain access to the riches that are stashed away there. DeNiro's character Nick Wells is the older, wiser thief making one less foray into the underground before retiring for good. A classic crime caper with a few unexpected twists, this one will have you at the edge of your seat.
3. Rounders - Ed Norton plays Worm, a fresh out of prison poker player who reunites with long time buddy Mike McDermott, played by Matt Damon. Mike has given up the poker life after a crushing loss in a high stakes game, and now lives a stable if unexciting life, sharing an apartment with his girlfriend, going to law school and driving a delivery truck. Worm's return to the scene sparks Mike's passion for playing cards and gets them both into trouble, which throws the rest of his life into chaos.
2. American History X - This powerful and at times shocking movie stars Norton as Derek Vinyard, neo-Nazi leader in a small California community who serves time in jail after killing a few black men trying to steal his car. Derek leaves jail a reformed man, but what happens during his time in prison to make him change? In the movie, Derek's time in jail is presented as a flashback told to his younger brother Danny, whom Derek is desperately trying to convince to leave the life he once encouraged. Derek has changed, but is it too late for Danny?
1. Fight Club - In this classic film adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's novel of the same name, Ed Norton plays a character whose name we never know. Living a typical, consumerist life, his world is turned upside down when his apartment is blown up. Forced to live with a new friend, Tyler Durden, Norton quickly takes on a new approach to life. Once an insomniac who went to cancer support groups despite not having any illness, Norton now is the co-leader of Fight Club, an underground group that starts off hosting no holds barred fights and begins unleashing various other schemes on the society it loathes.
