Top 5 Episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Lisa Stevens
Anyone who knows me knows I am a die hard fan of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Some people, like my husband, don't get the appeal or the childish humor behind the series. Personally, I think it is brilliant and the show even managed to make the fine city of Boston re-evaluate a lot before the ATHF Colon Movie was released. Here is a list, in no particular order, of my favorite episodes.

Dumber Dolls - This episode introduced us to one of the darkest characters to make their way into the teens lives Happy Time Harry who has a switchblade for a hand and will throw down if you have a problem with him. His problems steam from his ex wife, his Action Bills and the fact that he shouldn't be drinking since he has already had half of his liver removed, but he does anyway.

This episode also gave lines such as, 'Flip him over, that's how Hendrix died' and 'I was just gonna..sort of blow your jaw off with a fire cracker or something. I think I need to go pray' after Shake tried to lite Harry on fire with a blow torch. Harry decided to call his bluff and poured gasoline over his head. Harry hates life and everyone around him and makes it his life mission to destroy everyone around him including Jiggle Billy who ends up blowing his head off after Harry makes him realize he was put a box for one reason only, to die. This episode was one of my favorites in the series and ends with Shake thinking he is the Highlander after Harry called his bluff again. This time though Shake throws Harry off a cliff and goes with him after thinking he was immortal.

This isn't the end of Harry though as he makes his way back in the episode The Last One. If you really are Harry's friend you will remember to get him a Happy Time Dialysis Machine.

Ezekiel - Could Shake be the father of the little lovable, but slow, shake that appears on the Teena's doorstep one day? Shake finds himself torn between wanting to be a father to this mini version that looks like him and wanting to cast the little guy aside for cramping his lifestyle. Shake shows in this episode how mean he can be and also ends with him trying to kill himself in Carl's car after he feels the boy is refusing to listen to him. We also learn that in Shakes mind he has had sex with hundreds of women internationally, and that he likes to wrap himself up down there to the point he has no feeling left.

Stand out lines from this episode include, 'Get in that net you crazy whore!' and 'BOOM! GO BACK TO YOUR MAMA!' This was another favorite episode and ends with the viewers, and the teens, finding out who Ezekiel really is, and more importantly how old he really is.

Party All The Time -

The teens tread into a more serious topic with Party All The Time. After Meatwad points out a strange growth on Frylock's face he goes to his doctor and a biopsy reveals this to be malignant melanoma. Meatwad, Shake and Carl try to console Frylock with a party and Andrew W.K. singing his hit Party, Party, Party. Frylock comes to realize the chemotherapy isn't working as well as he had hoped and his health is deteriorating quickly causing him to slip into depression and neglect his time machine he has been working on.

Stand out line from this episode is:

Meatwad: What did your doctor say?
Frylock
: He says I have cancer.
Meatwad
: Well did you... did you tell him that you don't?
Frylock
: Meatwad, I'm afraid it doesn't work that way.

Frylock comes to find out his fate at the end of the episode and a secret from his doctor.

Gee Whiz -

A billboard with the image of Gee Whiz's face in the butt of a shotgun gives Meatwad a gift in an immaculate conception. Gee Whiz is actually God, but due to the sensors Frylock has to teach Meatwad that it is not ok to say God's name out loud. As Meatwad gets further along in his pregnancy Shake becomes jealous that Gee Whiz picked him and Frylock becomes suspicious of a man, or a whatever Meatwad is, becoming pregnant. An ultra sound reveals in the end a surprise for Meatwad and finally tells him what he is actually carrying.

Favorite part of the episode was when Meatwad has one of his mood swings:

Meatwad: Oh... boy, I apologize. My hormones are goin' nuts. Now, please... if you would... get the f*** outta my way. I mean, how many times I gotta f***in' write "ice cream" on this f***in' list before someone gets in f***in' gear, and brings home the f***in' ice cream? Maybe I should get a steak knife, and etch it in your muthaf***in' forehead! How hard can it f***in' be? Ice muthaf***in' cream! I guess that's the price I pay for livin' with two f***in' morons!

Video Ouija -

Meatwad likes playing a video game that allows him to contact the dead. Master Shake decides the best way to screw with Meatwads head and scare the crap out of him is to commit suicide by plunging into Carl's pool with sleeping pills, gasoline and piranhas. But Shake suddenly realizes being dead and in a video game for eternity isn't everything he thought it would be, especially when you have to spend eternity with a screaming baby. Frylock decides to contact a chicken-reviver to help try and bring Shake back from the dead, but they quickly realize the chicken-reviver isn't very good at what he does.

Favorite quotes from this episode are:

Carl, Frylock and Meatwad (all in unison while reading cards): I am... Sofa King... We Todd Ed. (Say it fast, you'll get it)

I will give a very honorable mention here to Hand Banana. Anyone who watches the show will know the episode immediately and why it would be considered a favorite. A dog made from Shake's hand DNA with an affection for Carl's butt. What more could you ask for?

ATHF works great as short cartoons, but damn that movie seemed to drag.
